Ben Hogan was 44 when he played in "The Match" at Cypress Point. So was his retired partner, Byron Nelson.

Anyone else want to see this done again but with different players?? I would love to see DJ, Brooks, Rickie and JT duke it out, maybe Spieth. Throw lots of side cash in it. Make it from an equally impressive course.

 

Doesn't matter how much cash. Doesn't matter what course. No other twosome in golf has the drawing power of Tiger and Phil.

Pretty entertaining coming down to the last few holes..

 

Right as Phil was lining up the winning put on the 4th playoff hole... the PPV feed froze, because it was exactly 8pm ET and apparently the morons running the PPV feed made a hard stop at 8pm for some reason. Had to go online to see if he made the putt or not

I like these Shell's Wonderful World of golf-type matches. It would be cool to see more of them, but the pay-per-view is a fail. I wonder how much was made on it. I would think they may of made more money on just broadcasting on network live from ratings and commercials.

I get they had technical issues for a small number of people but if you go that route of making it free to stream because of those handful of people, you better be making it free for everyone which means refunding those who ponied up and paid for it.

Yeah if you ordered it through B/R a refund makes sense. Unfortunately I ordered it through my local cable provider, Cox Cable. I'm not sure asking them for a refund makes any sense.

 

Oh well. I figure I got it on the big screen and otherwise I would have had to stream and screen share it and sometimes the quality is not great when screen sharing.

Prestige? You get into the Open by winning it, but The Match has a much bigger presence. With that said, Tiger said the one shot he’d like back in his career was at the Quad Cities.

I don’t have the same trust in Tiger to make key putts that he used to back in his prime. Today was another reason to think that.
