Ads are auto-playing with sound again on every device I've tried.

 

Hope you guys are getting some decent Revenue for this b/c it's creating a terrible user experience.

 

Sidenote...Immediate Feedback -> I intentionally won't be buying anything that is thrown in my face in the form of auto-ads.  Ever.

Need pictures to sort out.  The auto play of sound is not part of the authorized delivery of ads.

TruGreen ad is causing all sorts of issues. Basically locks up the page whenever it pops up. Only thing I can do is refresh and hope a different add pops up. Just got this screenshot of the ad paired with a "loading" message that I've never seen before. Spoiler alert, it never loaded. 

 

ETA: Can't imagine I'm the only one experiencing this. Really bad this evening. No matter how many times I refresh, still the TruGreen Ad. Almost makes the site unusable. Had to refresh a bunch of times just to be able to make this edit.

Probably not their fault. But I'm developing a significant aversion to their company. Makes me want to stick a Trugreen sign in the yard. But then slowly and methodically destroy my own lawn as a form of reverse marketing.

Chrome.  Fully updated.

 

Ads in the middle of threads blaring though the speaker.

 

Here's a screenshot.  So frustrating to watch this site digress from a UI perspective.  It used to be a really cool spot.  No idea if you and Richard are trying to improve it, just stay solvent, or make it better.

Ads auto playing this morning on (up to date) Chrome on Windows 10. Only happened once. Very frustrating.

Today I have ads autoplaying sound randomly ie not every ad. I am on Windows 10 Enterprise and Microsoft Edge.

I TM ad about building Colin Morikawa's wedge just auto played the sound. IIRC the last one that did that was of these TM builds one as well.

The TM is autoplaying with sound using Chrome on both Windows 10 Pro and Android.

Yep, still going on. Especially sucks refreshing a bunch of times, hoping for a different ad, but the TG keeps popping back up.

Yup…. This thing freezes up my browser… it has been horrid over the last week or so using this site on a mobile device.

Not just mobile. Same experience on desktop (M1 Mac, safari, everything up to date). Really hoping they get it resolved. Or TruGreen exhausts their ad budget very soon.

Feel like the trugreen problem is getting worse not better. 
refreshing just seems to prolong the issue as the ad just starts over for me.   Very annoying to say the least.

This morning I was about 4 paragraphs into writing a long post when the trugreen ad popped up. It caused my browser to refresh and the post was completely gone. Normally it sort of saves as you go along on a long post like that - but the trugreen ad completely wiped it out. 

 

Safe to say I will never ever hire trugreen to do any work at my house.

Had the same thing happen to me. 

And not even sure how it's possible, but the TruGreen ad seems to have even gotten worse today.

Not sure if you're talking about the phone BUT, on the desktop, at least in FF, as you mention, the site saves as you write.

 

Forget the ad, if *I* refresh the page, the post box goes away, as does the post I was writing BUT, if I drop the cursor in the posting box again, it shows up, even much later if I've gone to various other spots in the site.

 

In fact, I just did this same thing on THIS post, after going to various other places on the site, clicking on this thread again (without going "back"), and once I click into the "Reply" box, there it is again, totally intact.

 

Even now, try going to that same thread and click inside the "Reply" box. Your 4 paragraphs might very well be there. 👍

Apparently Chrome has discontinued their ability to disable "Autoplay" but here's an article that might help. (I'm using Firefox which allows me to disable autoplay).

Thanks for the reminder.  I was getting autoplay and thought I had all the ad stuff blocked, turned out it was only audio.  The video screen still appears and goes to the bottom right hand corner when I scroll but now there is no video.  I really dislike the small autoplay video on any webpage, it's annoying and distracting.

This isn't a Chrome issue.

 

Ads don't blare through my devices on other sites.

 

Forum users don't change browsers to adapt to crappy Ads within the Forum.  They move on to other websites.

I realize it's not a Chrome issue and wasn't suggesting it was.

 

My post that you quoted was directed at a post regarding "autoplay" and the ability to turn it on or off (as I can in FF) as a partial remedy.

I'm using Opera with two different ad blockers and I've never seen the site this bad.

 

Just now in the Bandon thread, a random sound clip started up about someone building Morikawas wedge - but there is absolutely no video playing *anywhere*. Sound icon in my thread tab though, its clearly coming from the site somewhere.

 

 

So I came into this thread to report it and theres a sound clip running about a comparison of someone to Happy GIlmore - but I cant see any video.

 

The site is basically unusable if its going to keep pumping out random sounds like this.
