As you can see in my bio, I play the 12 degree Mini 1.5 and have done for 4 years. Of course as such a fan of the mini driver I have had to get this, and I have the 13.5 on pre-order with the stock stiff shaft, but I was so wanting the 11.5. I'm really hoping this is a low spin beast so that the 13.5 can match my 12 degree mini. Finger's crossed. I'll try and get some side by side comparison done, something I've not seen anyone else do yet.

Well @J13 you certainly had a point. So much so, I cancelled my 13.5 order in the UK, and purchased through Greater Golf Express in Charlotte to ship an 11.5 version to me in the UK. I now have a long shipping wait while I hear how much you guys are all loving your 11.5's.

Got mine today and played 9 holes with it. Good news was I didn’t miss a fairway. I hit a couple on the screws that went nearly as far as my driver. The mishits were more like mishits with my 3 wood rather than the big misses I sometimes have with my driver.

Only downside is I couldn’t hit it off the deck. Tried a couple times and hit one fat and the other was kind of a stinger slice.

I think I’ll end up keeping it especially for the days my driver isn’t working.

@wilymo This is great to hear. The characteristics you describe above are exactly how my Mini 1.5 12 degree has performed over the past 4 years for me. Catch one out of the screws, and its only 10 yards behind your best driver, I can live with that. Hit a bad one out of the toe or heel, and I can lose as much as 40 yards distance or worse. But, the left/right dispertion of those misses is far less, largely because of the distance loss due to the head size. As a member of a classic British heathland course, length is not needed, straight is. A necky shot ending up short in the rough beats long and wild in the gorse and heather everytime. Where people talk of cutting down a regular driver and playing it at this length, the 460cc head allows the wild ones to still be really wild. I'm hoping the 11.5 Original One's tech advancements only add to the forgiveness I've seen with my Mini 1.5. I shall see.

Regarding off the deck, that doesn't surprise me. It took me sometime to get used to the Mini 1.5 off the deck, but I can rely upon it now. It requires a steep angle of attack into the ball, leaning on it in a similar fashion as a long iron. If you are the sort of player that happily sweeps a 3 wood off the turf without hardly touching the turf, then you may struggle. It is my one resversation with opting for the 11.5 over the 13.5, what's it going to be like off the deck compared to the Mini 1.5 (which has a warbird sole for this very reason). I don't carry any other woods, but only need to hit a wood off the deck probably once in every four rounds or so, when I'm looking for it to go low, straight, and run forever.

I inquired to a few Callaway people about this and the response I got was basically, "not enough commercial demand" for minis. I figured Jailbreak, flash face, and carbon fiber with their typical sleeve would be awesome. Just doesn't sound like it's going to happen, but I'll be more than happy to be proven wrong

They might find that it just needs to be the right mini and the right lofts. The BB mini spun too much IMO whereas the Original One barely spins which pairs up well with the shorter length/steeper decent angle.

Ok - who has an original Great Big Bertha or a Biggest Big Bertha lying around so we can get some comparison pictures to this new “Mini” driver.

Would love to see it next to the original drivers that were “Huge”.

I remember getting the biggest big bertha and heading straight to the range (Myrtle beach at the time) I went to Cane Patch. I was hitting bombs and felt like i was cheating. I must have hit a large bucket with the driver alone and wore myself out. It felt like i had Thor's hammer in hand haha. BTW I still have the driver i'll see if i can get a comparison pic

Here’s a BBB against an Epic. Looks a similar size the the Original One Mini.

And here is the Mini against a Ping G400.

I have to admit that it looks good. Great pics. This is the route I'd be most interested in, as a 3 wood replacement, but only as a tee club. The courses I play don't require 250yds+ second shot.

Driver: still looking.....
4 Wood: Kamui Pro TP-XF 17.5° + Fujikura Speeder Evolution VI FW70x @ 42 1/2".

7 Wood: Kamui Pro TP-XF 22.5° + Fujikura Speeder Evolution VI FW80x @ 41 3/4".
Irons: Kamui Pro KP-102 5i-PW + KBS TGI 110 + 1/2".
Wedges: Callaway Jaws Forged 50°/55°/60° + KBS C-Taper
Putter: SeeMore SB1 + Accra FX300.

This is money. I was getting 250y off it, first time out today. Easy to hit, good flight. Set on 13.5*, was going pretty much as far as my driver. I really like this club, feels very solid like a hybrid whereas a driver is hollow.

Lower, more penetrating flight than I was expecting too. Apex also like my G400 10.5*.

If you get the 13.5* and loft it down will the face open up and if you went 11.5* and loft it up would the face close?

And what a combination I am. The smallest headed driver on the market married to the largest headed fairway on the market.

First time on the course today. Bomber when hit well. Fairways were hard as a rock today and on a 470 yd par 5 I had 134 left. However, high toe misses are brutal. I had a couple of bombs, a couple 200 yd duck hooks, and one nice idiot mark on 17 after the beers set in. At least she has some character now.
