What up with Jordan?

Wait, whatever happened to drive for show and putt for dough?

It’s like the poles of the earth reversed. It’s putt for show and drive for dough?

In modern day golf isn’t it something like “ball-strike yourself into position to actually have realistic birdie opportunities.  Then, when you have realistic birdie opportunities make some of them.”

A 3 foot putt?  It was 18 inches.

3" = 8"  seems to be a universal guy problem.🤐

Yes, it was.

You cut me deep, @Ferguson

I thought we were close enough that you’d blindly follow me anywhere.  How wrong was I….

You misunderstood.  That's a statement, not a question.

I have been a witness to your never wrongness most of the time, 100% of the time.

Speculation is too much time spent on long game not leaving enough time practicing putting.  Now that long game is coming into form he can refocus on the putter.

Jordon actually said the same thing in an interview.

I saw a few slow motion swings of his new swing that he just won with. Never seen anything like it, lol, just goes to show that it doesn't require a pretty swing to win.

How would you say it has changed from then to now? I haven’t checked it out but his odd practice routine says he’s working on path.

Thing is though, it's not just his practice swing his real swing looks crazy too. It was like super laid off, rotates very hard from the top, over the top plane and the shaft exiting super low on his body with a tempo that was alien like.

Thanks Hawkeye. I guess I’m a bit of a purist. He’s working hard to turn his body quickly into the ball. Exaggerating a layoff at the top of the swing so the club will drop down into the slot. Interesting. But as @MK7Golf21 says the swing is far different from his major wins swing.
Naturally the club will drop into the correct slot based upon the correct starting form.
I still believe he chased distance after the major wins and that messed him up.
The common drill you see today is the exaggerated out to in practice to hit a fade. Looks like he’s getting complicated. He didn’t have the most conventional swing to begin with; but exercises are very personal.

Watching him play Sunday, his full swing looked pretty fluid to me, not "crazy" or "super" anything - not sure what you think it should look like and I'm not qualified to weigh in on "should".

Whatever he's working on seems to have worked it's way into his swing more consistently and predictably and seems to be effective, but I don't think most people having never seen him before and watching that golf swing as it happens when hitting the ball would say anything other than "I'll take it" and be happy to have it (and think it looks pretty good, certainly not "alien" in any respect).

Thread bump.

Thought 2022 was going to be a big comeback year, starting out with the win at the RBC. Rest of the season was a step in the right direction, but the RBC seemed the apex.  Also, the swing looks like its coming around, (altho still very fidgety over the ball for my liking, at least).

Missed cut last week at Riviera, any predictions for JS this year?

I think Jordan is great for the game and hope he does well.  I think he caught lighting in a bottle from 14-17 and is never going to win at that level again.  I'll give him a win and contention at a major and makes the Ryder Cup team.

I am not one to speculate too often.
