PXG 0211 irons - what do you think?

Just a quick update regarding delivery time for my recent order.... I know there were people wondering if the big holiday sale would cause extended delivery times.

My order (6 clubs) was officially processed exactly a week ago today. I just received an email letting me know they’ve shipped and should be here on Thursday. Pretty good if you ask me!

I had a set of the i500's early spring 2019, loved the look, low offset etc. They were pretty compact if my memory serves me, not the best feeling irons. I hit some sweet shots but also alot of duds. My lie board fittings always set me 2 up, finally figured out (late fall) I hit standard lofts in the long irons and 1-2 flat in the scoring irons better. The i500's were 1 up, wouldn't mind trying them again with the correct lofts. I hit the 4 iron so well, kinda wished I hadn't of sold it with the set. Hopefully the 0211's have a good spring for me:)

@Lefty87 true, I suspect that part of it had to do with the Christmas holiday.

Also worth noting that I ordered a gen 1 hybrid with the order, and they apparently oversold those. I got a call on new years' day stating as much, and they offered a reduced upcharge for a gen 2. I doubt that slowed my order, though...production is production, whether or not they oversold on the gen1.

My 6 iron with Accra i90 shaft arrived this afternoon. Took exactly three weeks including two holiday weeks. Excited to try it out. In other news, it snowed today in DC. But supposed to hit 60 this weekend!

Not at all. The Ping 700’s are huge. My 0211 are smaller than my i25’s in the scoring irons, and slightly larger in the 5-4 irons.

Everyone's game is different. I tried the 210's twice. I loved them both times, but both times they came up a just a tiny bit bit short compared to the irons I chose. In fact there is nothing specific that I don't like about the i210's. When I chose the G700's over them, I was coming back from back and shoulder injuries. The G700's were ridiculously forgiving and flew extremely long and high. The i210 was great and felt better, but they were around 17 yards per club shorter. And a little more demanding. So because of the timing, the G700's went in the bag. If I had been perfectly healthy at the time, and did not need the extra forgiveness, I may have leaned to the i210.

Then as I got healthier, I decided to give PXG a shot. So I tried several of their offerings along with a lot of other brands to make sure I was just not forcing myself to drink the PXG kool-aid. The i210's were still great, but they were shorter than the 0211's and the 0211's felt much better. And even though the PXG irons are slightly stronger lofted, my ball flight was very controllable and the spin was the same as the i210's. Like I said these were just my results, but for me the i210 were good at everything, they just did not stand out at anything if that makes any sense.

Never had the i210 but the Ping fitter I went to put me in power spec lofts on the i200 set I gamed, and that caught them up to others in distance. Also got my ball flight down to 90-93 feet from over 100 feet and fhat optimized the carry.

i was comparing my new 0211 six iron — in head shape/size — to other heads I have, like the P770, S55 and z765. For a hollow-headed iron that by design has to be made larger, it doesn’t look glaringly out of place. (i could take photos if anyone wants to see the comparisons.) In some ways it looks like an S55 made proportionally larger, and a little deeper. It is more mid-sized in heel to toe length but I would say similar to the Mizuno 919 Forged. Overall it’s a little bigger than I would want in scoring irons but those are smaller in a progressive set like the 0211, I just have not seen them yet. Sole is flatter-looking than I expected (not unlike the 770) but it has a nice camber on the trailing edge to reduce turf interaction. The 0211 is a very pretty club and looks sweet with the Accra shaft.

I like the head shape at first glance but I need to see it in play. Skip the range time, I’ll get a better take by getting it out on a course.

Got my 0211's about two weeks ago, but between work, family, travel and weather, I didn't get to hit them until Monday.

I am coming from Ping i210's w DG S300. The PxG come w Accra 105 stiff.

My ball flight is lower w the 0211's. I am surprised, but it is quite a bit lower. Not sure on distances, but it feels like they go a little further.

I will play them on the course for the first time on Wed, will come back and give my thoughts after the round.

I believe it was in one of the PXG threads but the sentiment is that these are being blown out by PXG and discontinued. Our pro, a PXG staffer, indicated that same when speaking with him on Sunday. He gave no reason, just said he is being told that they will blow through the remaining stock and that is it. Gen3’s of course are already in fitting carts and many bags.

It doesn’t make sense to me they would discontinue them. I could see an updated cast iron in their place at some point. But to me PXG coming out with a quality cast club at an affordable price point was a smart move. Draws in new customers and shows what they can do in expanding their product line.
