Very low key build up probably because the events are so condensed and this has snuck up quickly but I'm really looking forward to it.

Also could be interesting to see the events played in different weather.

My friends and I were saying that very same thing last night. Feels like it is here before we even knew it. For want of a better word, the 'excitement' levels for it compared to a US Open coming around are low. I thought that move to May was a great idea and I am sure that it still is but it does seem to have fairly changed the dynamic of the whole thing.

My memories from when Glover won on Bethpage a decade ago are getting a little hazy. Does the monsteriness really show on TV? I rembeber it as just another PGA course. But as I said, it was a while ago.

Depends on what camera action they use to show it now. 10 years broadcasting has changed so it might be different.

Like the truly big courses - tv will never do it justice. But if they do full on pan outs lord of the rings style. Then there is no denying the landscape that is the black course. A behemoth.

A few holes have 2 potential tee boxes but there aren’t many. 7 will play up at least 2 days I think and 3rd hole will play up one or 2 days. After the cut it will essentially be playing it’s full yardage

Decent value as Tiger is known to struggle on the opening tee shot regardless of the event.

Those are payouts based on a $100 bet, called a moneyline system.

-125 means you must **put up 125 to win 100**

+105 means you **win 105 on 100**

As in point spreads odds, the - is the favorite.

>

> The red is a great course, unfortunately you didn't get a full taste for the course, two of what I think are the best holes on the front are severely shortened. The first hole; a beast of a par 4 is playing only as a 95 yards par three, and the all up hill par five number 5 is playing as a short (300 yard) par 4. Not sure if they shortened any other holes out. The back nine is a beast from the tips. The red is a fun and yet challenging course to play. Hopefully you will get to play it again, perhaps do a red and black 36 in one day. That is an awesome day of golf (and you can take a cart on the red for the 2nd round).

I played it exactly as you described in June of 2002 about 10 days after the USOpen as the hospitality areas were not yet fully cleared...I think we played the member's tees and I shot an 83 with my nephew's clubs.....

we arrived at 6:30AM hoping for a tee time at the Black but when told the earliest we could get was 1:30Pm we decided to play the Red instead..

had a nice time buying merchandise at the pro shop as all remaining items were at huge discounts already!!

I still have the caps, towels, glasses and some shirts I got way back then.

I wouldn't want to drive in unless I was local. I'd figure out a way to take the LIRR if possible... That's how I am getting there.
