New TM p790 irons ???

TMAG need to release these very soon or they will come seriously unstuck with the Mizuno HMB release which looks like a 790 slayer

No way the HMB is near as forgiving as the P790. The HMB will probably be less forgiving than the i500.

People are definitely getting the wrong idea here, the HMB’s will not be as forgiving as perceived. Yes they will be more friendly than a typical blade but it’s still a blade. Right up my alley but not sure if it would be for someone who struggles with strike consistency

Patina also refers to accumulated changes in surface texture and color that result from normal use of an object such as a coin, golf club or a piece of furniture over time.

So something like a rough surface in a way? A vintage finish?

I hesitated on those if those are the ones I’m thinking of, and I’m kicking myself daily! I’m wearing out my short irons and I’m in desperate search for another set of new heads. A new set sold 2 days ago on eBay which was only the 2nd new set I’ve seen on eBay in all of 2019 so far. Hesitated on that one as well and now I’m really mad at myself!

Hopefully TM will make the newer P790 version in a lefty model. Should know for sure very shortly.

I’m positive they will. It’s the 750’s I’m after or hopefully a potential real replacement unlike the 760’s. Some of us just want a pure players CB. I think TM needs to rethink things and bring them back. So many guys still have them in their bag. Guys on tour don’t want speedfoam but also want more forgiveness than the 730’s/P7TW.

Yeah, that stinks. I don’t think we will see anything close to the 750’s anytime soon.

I hope they add a matching SW with the next release of the 790's. I like that Callaway has one in their CF19's. Never thought I would like it but they did a great job with it.

I also have a set of The PSi Tours Proto version. they are as sweet. But with my 750's in the bag the PSi's just sit in the display bag!! They are the best heads TM has come out with in ages!

Separately, what about bending a set of 760s to 790 lofts? Would that not create in effect the super/hybrid club?

Yep. September release. Txg said today they are heading to the taylormade 2019 launch in august or September to get to see the whole new line at the kingdom.

Wonder if they have made the iron play to more consistent distances. Remember liking the p790 when it came out except I was carrying 7 irons over 200 yards with 20-30 yard changes in gapping on solid hit shots.

Im sure the new ones will still have lots of speed foam. Sounds like all they did was refine the shaping just a little.

... Exactly what I did. I like my P760's ever so slightly better in most every way, although I still love my P790's too. I would like to see the "new" 790's with a smaller blade length and a thinner top line, but that is a selfish request and just doesn't make good business sense with the P760s already in the line up.

Don’t see how they can improve much on them. I grew up and learned to play with hogan blades and in 2009 got in a accident and haven’t played for 10 years and now I’m back finally and have been looking for a smaller players size head but because I’m really rusty wanted something with some forgiveness and I demoed everything on the market and WOW! Off center strikes were like butter and carried very well. So much has happened in 10 yrs but these are incredible! How can they possibly improve on the current 790? Another very good feeling iron was the gen 2 PXG P iron but for the money there’s hardly any difference.

Exactly! It’s going to be super hard for TM to create something that performs better imho. The only thing they could do is make them look a little bit smaller.

They did. They’re P760s. If they made the new P790 shorter it would be a new P760.

1) Thinner top line

2) Milled grind sole

Doesn't look like we are getting either. FWIW I am very happy with the current gen. No low spin or club distance issues.

P760's. The sole grind is way better.

I agree with you. I’ve hit my 790 7i against the 760 7i with the same modus 120 shaft and every time I do, I still don’t like the feel of the 760
