Love it guys! This shaft just looks so good in these heads!

 

I will say the waggle test feels much better with the ZF than the Ventus Black I had in mine. That’s not saying much, but sure is a difference.

So it looks like a few of you are playing the ZF at D5 instead of what I assume is a stock D3/D2 weight. @evoviiiyou @OspreyCI

 

Do you play ALL shafts at this D5 weight or did you settle on D5 BECAUSE of the ZF? 

 

I'm at D4 right now from the stock D3 on the Epic Speed specifically because on the ZF the extra weight felt better, but not on my TPB. The tip seemed to deflect a little more and brought the ball back more neutral from a slight fade.

 

Is D5 softening the tip at all for you guys?

I am only at D5 because that is what it came out at with my current head weight. I have not played this setup yet. Going to try it at the range and course this weekend and see. If it is too heavy I will take it down to D3 like my last setup with the Ventus. We shall see. Sorry, no help yet.

I actually have learned through many trials that D4-5-6 are good for me and in my gamer SIM MAX DF set up, I have the Billy Bobs 11gram, 13gram, and 15gram rear weights that I have tried more for feel with my swing training. To be fair I had my builder add 5grams of hot melt to the toe/front near face area of the sole and then tried several shaft options with lead tape to dial for feel before I ordered those Billy Bob weights to adjust to my liking. 

 

D5 seems to be really good as it was in my former gamer for more consistent center strike locations more often. Also, my DF is tipped 1/2” FWIW. Typically cause I play driver at 44.5”, I always default with 1/2” tipping on the build. The ZF set up actually feels the most stable when compared with only former gamer shaft Velocore Red and Accra TZ6 which were both tipped same 1/2”. Hope that helps.

Anyone had the chance to try the 50TX? It’s 64 grams so not too lightweight and I’m wondering how it would compare to my Ventus Blue 6X. If anyone’s tried it, let me know what you think/thought of it. Thanks

I have a ZF 7X in my Epic Speed 3 wood. This thing launched really low and seems to run for days. Not what I was looking for in a 3 wood but works for now. Anyone had issues with the finish coming off? I cleaned the sticker goo off with some rubbing alcohol and it took part of the ion finish off up by the grip. It isn’t shiny anymore and looks dull.  Just cosmetic but shouldn’t happen on a shaft this expensive.

I haven't at those weights but have at the 80 gram x/tx flex range.  Ball flight is very similar.  ZF feels like it has a little more kick to it.  I get slightly better dispersion with the ZF as well.  Can't go wrong with either shaft.

First round today with the ZF in my PXG Gen4 X head. No practice or warm up with it. Straight the the first tee. All I have to say is it the perfect shaft for me. Much better kick and feel than the Ventus Black I had. Just fits me so much better. Most all descriptions of this shaft in this thread have been spot on. Mid trajectory and stable and low spin. Does not curve much either way, but could play a cut when I needed to. Has a nice kick at the bottom and makes you feel like you crushed it. 
 

10 fairways today and allowed me to hit more greens and was hitting some of the longest drives of the year too. So glad I listened to @evoviiiyou and picked up this shaft.

Ofcourse strike location and loft have the most impact on launch but for same strike on face my opinion is with a similar swing delivery…

I dont know why, but I keep trying to unseat my ZF/BF combo in driver and 3w. It works SO WELL.

Good to hear!  ZF has been magic in my 3 metal.  While I like a very stout and linear shaft in my driver, I wanted something that would give me mid launch yet not completely balloon on me like the TB did, so I went to the ZF.  It seems like I do better with shafts that have a little kick in fairway metal as well.  I don't get the crazy lefts with it and can fade it when I need to.  Cantlay uses the ZF in both his driver and 3 metal which says a lot to me.  JT has one in his driver.

In my hands The ZF is a perfect fairway wood shaft for all the reasons it doesn't work in my driver. The ZF produces an extra smooth mid/mid trajectory, which I love in woods. What I especially like about the ZF is when I go after it, I simply get more of the goodness with no negative downsides. It's a great shaft, especially in woods.

I just got a TSi2 3 wood in, and REALLLLY want to try the ZF in it. I ordered the club with an Atmos Black, which is solid in the driver but doesn't seem to get along with the fairway heads all that well.

Just had a full driver fitting yesterday and had some really interesting results.

 

My current gamer is an M6 with the ZF 60S shaft.  Plays at a C8.  I know, pretty light.  Doesn't feel that way at all tho.

 

Tested (all 9*):

SIM2 Max

Epic Max LS

G425 LST

Mizuno ST-G

TSi3

 

Shafts Tested (all stiff and 62-68grams):

Accra TZ RPG

Diamana PD

Lin-Q Blue

Diamana ZF

 

After testing everything, I told the fitter to put in my shaft with the remaining heads (SIM2 Max and Epic).  Well, lets just say, this shaft combo with any head for me...MONEY!  Nothing accuracy wise could beat this out.  As a matter of fact the accuracy got better in the SIM2 Max and the swing/ball speeds got better with the Epic.  After all the testing the guy mentioned to me that my swing is not quite there for a TX, but he could see tipping the stiff 1".  He said that would tighten up the dispersion even more, agreed.  Well I found an Epic Max LS head and a ZF 60X (only released in JDM markets).  I think this might be the winner here.  And if not I will just go to the SIM2 Max and keep my current shaft.  But needless to say I am pretty excited about this experiment!

 

Anyone looking at the ZF shafts, do so.  They honestly cannot be beat.  Even the new Diamana 5th generations couldn't knock this out.

In short the BF is the softer feeling higher launching more spinning version of the ZF. The ZF really sits in between the BF and DF but closer to the BF. 

 

The feel is similar but you will get MORE feel from the BF and more load, more deflection. Club will turn over more, etc. 

 

BF is a great compliment to the ZF depending on what your needs are.

I did find a BF 80TX. Looking forward to trying it out in my 3 wood, as the profile has always worked well for me. Hopefully it will be a nice compliment to the VTS Silver I've used forever with a little bit of help off the deck. If it launches too high, then I know the ZF is probably the way to go.
