> Just got back from the pga superstore. From what i saw on videos and looking at pictures i thought these were going to be huge. I play the mp 18 fli hi/mmc/mb combo and from what i just saw the HMBs hide there spare tire better then the fli hi. They unfortunately hadn't recieved the t20 wedges yet which is what i went to buy but now im thinking hmb/mb combo is going on the credit card

The feel of the HMB blew me away! I went 2, 4-pw in HMBs bent weak to sel specs. I may add some MBs down the road but definitely won’t feel like I’m missing out out that great feel the MP 20 line has. Now is a magical unicorn would just get these things delivered to my fitter by Thursday that would great! Fingers crossed!!!

On a whim I swung the HMB 7i at Golf Galaxy to kill some time tonight (currently playing MP-18 blades 4-P). The HMB looked really nice at address and felt really good. Tried out the following shafts and I have them ranked in order most to least butter (no launch monitor to gauge performance):

1. $-Taper, S flex, 120g — wow these where smooth, haven’t hit a KBS shaft before

2. C-Taper Lite, X flex, 115g — felt nearly identical to the $-Taper, would need a launch monitor to get dialed into the right KBS shaft

3. Project X LZ 5.5 — never hit this before but not as smooth as the KBS’s

4. DG100 — didn’t feel as bad as I was expecting

5. Project x 6.0 - felt harsh

I could easily see a blended set of MP-20’s in the bag sometime soon.

>

> That sucks for sure, but why sell before you have new set in hand? Supposed they arrived on time but the order was wrong? And how the heck are you on this site with only 1 set of irons?? :D

You are so right. It was definitely a dumb move on my part. However, the 2 tournaments are captains choice so it’s going to be driver wedge 90% of the time anyway. Also I can get about any set of irons I want to demo from my fitter so I’m really not to worried about it. Just whining about the fact I can’t have my new toys! Lol! ?

What do you mean? P790 and t200 is more forgiving? Maybe you had an off day? I didn’t get that impression.

Going on comments I have read, many say the T200 and P790 are more forgiving than the HMB. I had the original version of P790 and would have to agree with that, but haven't seen the 2019 version, I hit the T200 and T300 at a demo day a few weeks ago and hit both much better than I idd the HMB. Realize Im a 15 HC and while I'm not a horrible iron player, it is not my strength. But the profile of the ball behind the HMB is absolutely much smaller than behind a T200.

got it, thanks for the clarification. t200 is a great club. probably the most perfect club for most, if you like the look of the cavity. best of luck!

Thanks, I'll be giving the T200 another look for sure. Almost went with the AP3 earlier this year when I saw they were available in Black, but by many accounts the T200 are better.

Couple of questions regarding the pricing for graphite shafts. On the above chart, it shows the Recoil's at no upcharge. Does this mean that you would pay the same $175 per iron as you would with steel shafts? Second, I go on the Mizuno website and look at the available graphite shafts and it shows more options, PX LZ's, LZ Tours, and Recoil 95's with no indication of whether or not these have an upcharge. However, on the same page it does say Custom Components At No Upcharge. So, again, does that mean that you can get these shafts for the same $175.

If you go to a retail website like second swing or Carl's golf land you can "customize" your set and it will show you what everything costs.

That's what "No Upcharge" means.

Mizuno USA site is very basic and will still show all the previous no-upcharge shafts. The chart I posted shows the newest additions, including which ones **now are extra**. To find the exact cost, you need to see a fitter or go on a website where you can change the options. Prices for Upcharge shafts are anywhere from $12 per club to over $60 from what I recall.

Recently fitted for irons. I compared the T200, g410, i210, JPX HM, Z585, and HMB side by side. The HMB was the winner on performance. HMB had a beautiful ball flight and looked beautiful. I could not justify the delta in prices over the i210, so I ordered the i210. If money was no object, HMB would be in the bag.

You made a great choice. As much as I want the HMB’s the price isn’t worth......until a Chad who hit 20 balls straight at GG realizes that didn't equate to on the course performance and dumps them for $500 less then he paid. ?

i210 are probably the best all around irons on the market that would fit the most people and come at a great price and with a really great custom order department, IMO.

I am buying MP20's because they seem more special and a luxury I am willing to pay for. Great golf can be played with either.

Anyone else compare these two? I have a HMP 4i bent 2* weak but the HMB is very intriguing

I called Mizuno today on my custom order. They said initially everyone’s pre Oder will be received on 20th, but they got the call from the factory on Tuesday, and was informed most of custom orders can’t ship on time due to they need to product 18,000 sets...that’s right, 18,000 set of MP20.

I’m not worry about when my iron will ship, I’m worry about the specifications that I ordered will be way off due to crazy amount of set they need to ship out..

That’s crazy. Mizuno really nailed this lineup. I’m definitely going to have my retailer check the specs on mine because I requested them lofted exactly like the SEL set and 2* upright so there’s a lot that could be wrong there.

Got my MP-20 HMB 4 iron on Friday. Hit it today. Very impressed. It blends well with my MP-18 mb--like a Mizuno blade pumping up by hitting the gym, but same basic look, profile. Hitting on the grass outdoors and turf interaction was excellent, just like the MP-18 blade. Significantly more height and forgiveness and probably about 5 yards more overall distance than my MP-18 mb 4 iron--but I'd estimate a consistent 7-10 yards more carry with the HMB with more "drop and stop" from a steeper landing angle. The HMB felt amazing--very soft, solid, like a regular Mizuno blade. Excellent shot feedback easy to tell when I toed it a bit (my usual miss) or thinned it. The trajectory and landing angle matched up with my MP-18 mb 5 iron (which I have bent to 26*, and have the HMB 4 at stock 22*) a nice 10-12 yard gap (the MP-18 blade 4 iron was only about a 7 yard gap, stacking up more than I like, but common problem with the long irons, right? This is the solution! Absolutely love the HMB, looks, feel, trajectory, and forgiveness (those toey shots lost almost nothing in distance and drew back nicely to the intended line). I think Mizuno has hit a home run with these and will sell another 18,000 easily when word gets around. I hit an HMB 7 iron indoors on a GC2 monitor and it was lovely as well. I still like my muscle back blades 5-PW a bit better, but I could game these down through the 7 iron, no problem--and that's saying a lot for a guy who's played muscle back forged blades nearly all of my 50 years playing...

Edit: On course today, out of thick Bermuda rough, the HMB 4 iron got through the rough without snagging or turning the hosel over (like the proverbial hot knife through butter), carried to the front of a green I certainly couldn't have reached with the MP-18 mb 4 iron because of the lie and stiff headwind. High, piercing, lovely trajectory.

Just had my set built In uk 2 iron HMB 4 pw blades 3 raw wedges.. The blades are superb feel amazing. I've played mizuno for years and these are by far thebest I have hit. The 2 iron does look a bit chunky I saw a 3 Anda 4 and They look much better. The 2 HMB does feel better than the mp18 flihi less hollow but it is a little chunky at the back. However hifglt recommend. The raw wedges are already spitting after 1 range session. They feel amazing zw5q3j5xr44w.jpeg

I'm thinking of treating myself to a MP-20 mixed set for Christmas this year maybe.

Looking at doing a mixed set:

2i - 5i in the HMB head (

6i - PW in the MB head

I'll get fitted for the irons as well and mess around with the HMB and MMC long irons. But damn the MB's look mint AF, 2i would be fun as well haha hit some nice low penetrating bullets.

Let me know if you get anything. Ordered on the 5th and when i spoke with Mizuno last Friday they said to expect shipping mid to late this week.
