It has a mixed aesthetic- some holes are the finely manicured type playing along clearly fake ponds, others are more dunesy and natural looking. The greens and green sites are mainly decently challenging. I think some of the greens and some holes were a bit over the top when it first opened and players complained. They have been redone since then. Supposedly after the Presidents Cup in 2017 the players gave better feedback on the course.

> From what I’ve read about Bayonne, it is great but much too small (overall property), narrow, and short to hold a PGA tournament.

I've not played but thatd be my question: why some holes look modern / fazio-stuff, and others more natural linksland. The latter on that course look better imo and it would have been better if the whole course just looked that way. Throw in some odd rectangular shaped and crowned greens, and now we're taking. Some of the criticisms about the OB being too tight are unfair ...for example carnoustie and other BO courses have tight OB holes, some even interior OB, to accommodate train tracks and other structures etc.

Is this the one on reclaimed land from a garbage dump? If so, the fact it looks fake or manufactured or contrived is 100% the fault of whatever big name genius they hired to shape the golf course. With the budget they had to work with, the place was practically a blank canvas.

No reason to doubt him and if he was missing cut anyway wise not to push it. Honestly I think it's healthy for the tournament too to let the players in the lead get the spotlight early, rather than a straining, underperforming tiger.

I've had one oblique strain and tried to play through it. Not a good idea. Hopefully this doesn't knock him out of the cup entirely, but he has no shot anyway even so. May as well shut it down for the year and reassess. I don't think we've seen it all yet, but if we have - what a ride.

My bet is still on Dustin for this thing.

A mate of mine said that at the time and I thought it was way too early to make that prediction but it looks more and more likely now. It was spectacular win and would be a great exclamation point.

At the time Tiger had a good run of healthy play. Ever since his health has been an issue and back/back related issues don't seem to get better with time. There would have been no reason to think the Masters was the end point but I'm wondering if 82 is even in doubt at this point. My guess is he still gets 2-3 more but I'm willing to say there's no way he can sustain health long enough where winning multiple more majors is on the table.

they didn't have a 'budget' to work with ... they had to spend tens of millions of dollars stripping out the top soil and a bunch of dirt underneath that, and replacing it with something that wouldn't kill the golfers when they walked on it ... then they had to shape the course ... it may not be the "best" course, design wise, but it's still impressive what they did, or that they wanted to do it in the first place ...

You've got a point. That's hacker action right there.

And he really needs to learn to control his temper, maybe take up smokeless tobacco or something to calm down.
