Costco makes money by selling memberships and the introduction of golf balls, gloves, wedges and a putter is going to help them sell a few more.

To be clear, they did not do any "testing" of the Pearl ball. They cut one open and said, "Gee, same color layers and same number of dimples. Sure looks like the same ball.".

 

They went on to say maybe they might perhaps do some kind of actual testing at some unspecified later date. Our man Tony is never one to let a lack of real information stand in the way of a page-view-generating "scoop"!

Cutting it open, analyzing the core + all 4 layers and unique dimple patterns definitely qualifies as a test. I think its pretty clear this is the same ball. But without Costco actually confirming it, i guess its easy to be skeptical. At $32 a dzn, its no longer a bargain, that's for sure.

It is funny how these sites compete with each other. Both sites have great insight and knowledge along with scoops and insight the consumer does not have. I think its great when you see this site pushing the same news as the other and vice versa. Its no secret the other site is changing the industry in certain regards and it can only help the consumer. People cut putters open?...I mean, this is a putter thread and it sounds like people are harping on a ball, which If I remember correctly, IS NOT A PUTTER...

I am pretty curious about these. It looks like they will have an insert, so I wonder what kind they will be. Has anyone figured out where they were sourced from? If it was a deal with Callaway or some big brand with Kirkland branding? I only ask because I know Costco sells Callaway clubs right now.
