It's a gram or two heavier than TM's. Even though the markings are confusing (you can use both cogs for one of the settings) you can use any grip you want. The TM/Cobra style rotating adapter wouldn't be that bad if someone would actually make a 360 cord grip. We've had adjustable drivers for what, 9 years now and you can't even get a Tour Velvet or Crossline Cord 360?

 

WRT the weight conversation a couple pages back, I decided it was time to add another tool to the shed shop. Pricing around and knowing I'll use it more than a few times I ordered a hotmelt kit. No need to ship my head to anyone or drive around the metro area !

If anyone was wondering about Hot Melting a SIM Max it's a piece of cake.

Stock Weight was around 193.5 You can hotmelt through the sound port in the hosel or head up the weight and remove the screw which will just fit the hotmelt nosel.

I went through the hosel sound port since he wanted it low/heel

I’m not sure heavier, but I have a question, some fitters, well most, they are not going to tell you to go to club Champion and get fit but I’ve heard that the shafts and the clubs there because of the adapters they use on all the clubs are heavier, is that true or do you get a legitimate fit? Not hating just questioning. But if you do not Buy a driver or a set of irons from them what does it cost for a fit in just a driver or a fairway wood? Oh something else I’d heard mentioned it’s because they use a universal adapter that will fit any head and it’s heavier than what I should be a good idea if they could get the weight right.

I have had problems at Club Champion because of their adapter system. I have a Cobra F9 Tour head...so it is heavier because of the additional weights...and all the shafts at CC are standard length, so had to lighten weights in my head to try and approximate the correct weight but still wasnt correct because their adapters are heavier. Since I wanted to try different shafts in there it really wasnt an apples to apples comparison, as they dont have any driver shafts that are shorter than standard. While I appreciated seeing the trackman data...it was virtually impossible to compare shafts accurately if you are playing less than standard off the rack length shaft. At least the "master" fitter I worked with couldnt figure anything out.

That’s interesting because the other night on the tour champion learning center, the golf tech specialist was on there talking how people come in to golf tech and are always fitted for the standard length driver when compared to the senior tour players they’re all like 44 1/2 inches some even shorter and they’re more accurate and longer off the Tee than a standard length driver and they suggested most need to go shorter which I actually do myself by choking down almost 2 inches on my shaft on my driver and I hit it longer and straighter than I do if I try to grip it towards the end, so it’s funny that big of a fitter does not have any short shafts to try out, thanks for the update.

Upside: ball speeds were excellent on the SIM for the swing speeds I was generating at the end of my lesson, some of the best smash factors I've gotten in a while. I at least know that 9 degrees will be slightly more optimal than the 8.25 I had the driver set to.

 

Downside: I wasn't using my normal ball and I think the LED lighting + lack of marker dots on the ball resulted in no usable spin numbers. Every single one of the shots I hit came out with italics which I think means it either had no info or was a guess.

Question for those who pre-ordered directly from taylormade and have received it. I just got a fedex shipment notification that sender "TaylorMade" sent me a package that weights 3lbs will be delivered on Monday (it was picked up by fedex today).

My question is, could this my SIM?? i just made my order this past saturday night, but I also included 2 trade-ins. So this could be either: the actual SIM driver or a box for me to send the trade-ins? (im not sure if they do that).

I'm asking since I haven't received an actual email confirmation from TM saying my driver has been sent, just that I have Fedex Delivery Manager and it notifies me of any incoming package.

any info will be much appreciated.
