All good man. They have to market. Inertia generator, twist face, swoop-dee-doo design, etc...they have to. I bet the engineers snicker at what the marketing folks come up with.

It's still fun seeing what they come up with. Hopefully SIM will be like 16 m2 and I'll play it for a few years...

I loved my 915 D3 Until it I snapped the shaft. I was bombing it with a Tour AD MJ6X. Then I got a Ping g400 Lst with another Tour Ad IZ 6x and I love it too. I think I like just about everything provided the shaft is reasonable stiff. Lots of great clubs out there right now.

Did you notice the ball speed gains with the MAX over the 2016 M2 (phenomenal invention) ? He was getting too much spin with the MAX but the ball speed gains ( 4-5 miles ) means with a shaft that reduces spin to where the 2016 M2 is, he would be blowing it by the M2 15-20 yards. and they have the same COR...but the head shape/internal design are different, material too..gains my friend.

Agreed year of the shaft go find any head that meets your eye and stick one of these new shafts in it and you can accomplish your ideal drive.

Fyi - the diamana s that's listed as a stock offering is a noodle. I'm willing to bet anyone in the 107-111 range will need X flex AND tip it a good bit.

Have you hit it? Seems like people are having trouble with getting enough spin with the smoke green. I thought the Diamana may be a better fit but haven’t seen many reviews or opinions from people actually hitting it.

Fair point but it was during embargo still so that’s all could do. Come to find out later non of the TM stock shafts for SIM are even close to aftermarket... I stand by my comment in this particular case.

Depends on what you consider aftermarket since the hzrdus smoke shafts are the real deal as are the ust ones. Don’t recall what other shafts are offered at no upcharge fit there’s definitely some non made for that are typical aftermarket

In the end all that matters is that it works, I didn’t have any aftermarket shafts in my bag currently and no complaints. Just making the point it’s getting muddy out there with the Ventus name being used but clearly not the Ventus you’ve seen on tv or hit during a fitting before SIM.

There’s been made for shafts for a long time so not really getting muddier but there can be confusion around real deal vs made for. The thing is most golfers 1) don’t get fit and just buy what is stock and they are used to including the loft they play which may be wrong for them 2) brands design clubs to fit the masses taking into account the ones who don’t get fit it’s why titleist changed their approach with TS and have it be able to compete on a launch monitor off the rack 3) made for shafts are designed to work with that specific release so it’s usually a good option for the avg Joe that’s not going to spend $250+ for a shaft

It was the standard length shaft for each manufacturer. I can tell you I was using the Ventus shaft in the SIM and the Hzrdus Smoke in each of the other clubs.

2016 M2 Tour Issue vs SIM Max.....anyone?

Historically, I’ve been a big taylormade guy until epic came out. I was Absolutely charged up into the TM machine when I went into my driver fitting yesterday. In my head, it was SIM or Maverick for sure, but the results were not expected. Sim performed on but tended to leak right on me and maverick was straighter, but SIM was faster. Then, I put the SIM down next to the other drivers tested and saw it was damn near an inch longer. This is TM at its finest (worst) do a huge marketing campaign on how much faster the new club is and make the shaft longer, duh, it’s faster.

Once I circled back to the G410 LST, which I had no intention of trying, I found that it was consistently straighter, had more predictable spin rates and was as fast as the SIM surprisingly, with a club that was .75” shorter. I was even able to take some hard cuts and get it up to 120mph. Go get fitted and try everything, but question the claims being made here. TM is getting ridiculous...

But I still ordered SIM...with my gamer shaft it was better and faster than M5

Strange... the length differences don't make sense. All of those drivers, according to manufacturers specs, are the same length - 45.75.

Some manufacturers do measure slightly differently, like with grip vs without, but there shouldn't be more than 1/4" in it across all of those drivers.

Does anyone know if I order the length as -1 inch shorter (44.75), will the manufacturer increase the head weight to keep the swing weight as D4? If they don’t, should I call in to make sure? Thanks .

That’s their intention, but whether or not they achieve that remains to be seen.

I played with a guy yesterday who had the SIM Max w/Ventus red. 10.5*. He had a pretty low ball flight and I asked him if he was typically a low ball hitter and he said yes that’s why he put the red in it to try and get trajectory up. Didn’t work. Lol. Sound wise it was very muted to me. Similar to what the M1 3W in my sig sounds like when I hit it. He also had one of those new TM putters (can’t remember the name) with the big tungsten bar across the back. Not the best looking thing but he was rolling in some birdie bombs with it all day. About 4 that I remember from long range and one or two from short range. Helped ease the sting of the couple triples he made. He asked me if I wanted to hit the SIM but I declined. Distance wise I was keeping up with him with my G400. I don’t think we were more than a yard or two apart all day.
