His AoA was only like... 1 though, so he needs more loft on his driver now if he's going to continue with his swing changes. He'd have to somehow gain even more speed if he was planning on gaming a 9* SIM head and still swing fairly neutral.

I don't plan on buying a SIM but maybe if next year's Flash replacement isn't amazing, I'd pick one up used. I'd still probably go 10.5* myself because I'd rather open the face down if I was seeing launch and spin go too high, than grab a 9* head, and have to shut the face to get more spin because I already draw the ball usually. I'd rather have a miss turn into a little weak pushy fade then a nasty over draw hook.

I'm not sure that I like them. Seems like a repainted M6 that still has the ugly bottom. Not positive I could hit the fairway off the deck and I do that pretty often nowadays.

Flat out - COR is maxed and it’s the only thing they have to work on or talk about. Go look up the video of mark crossfield gluing a bunch of sh*t to the top of a driver. It does next to nothing. No doubt it’s a good driver but the 2016 M2 would keep up to it out the middle no problem. Check out tour driving distances over the last decade as well. I switched drivers this year because I got fit. That gave me better numbers but only because my old setup wasn’t fit and was not giving me optimal numbers. If I bought a sim off the rack it would not be optimal either.

ahhh ok. I briefly watched the video on mute at work. That makes sense then going up in loft....thats a good idea too. I miss left from drawing the ball much more than I do right. I have my m5 in fade currently to neutralize as much as possible

Does it make sense for a slower guy(90mph) who gets along with M3 but weights in the back would gravitate towards MAX as it has SIMilar distribution and probably spin numbers?

Probably, unless you really hit up on the ball as d don't suffer from hooks.

I actually like the look of the SIM, more so than the M5 I have.

I had an M5 titanium 3 wood that I really, really liked, but got word on the SIM here and returned it for credit within 90 days so I’d have those funds readily available. At $399 it was overpriced though.

In another discussion (2020 Bag is Set Challenge) I show a straight Titleist bag. That may change though, as while I have not played yet this year, I like the new 2019 P790’s so much I may change, in which case I’ll go with SIM.

These drivers also got some excellent initial reviews so far.

People still buy into TM's marketing? I used to like TM but moved away from this company after R7 425 driver. This SIM driver and fairway seems to be recycling the old V-steel stuff... meh...

I don’t think people buy in. They test and determine if it works for them or not. Recycling but making things better. TXG did two great videos on the sim. The video with Tomo at the kingdom gets into the design and how they’ve learned from past releases and how thanks to be technology they can use old concepts and do them better.

I can't believe how many people believe all the amazing reviews by individuals and businesses who directly profit from people buying/getting fit for golf clubs. Honestly you're just as good taking an M2 head to a fitter and asking them to fit you.

Or maybe I like to research and use multiple sources And my own testing to see if marketing claims are true. Instead of taking the information marketing puts out to bash a company, the engineers who do their job and the people who are interested to see how things improved or not.

I'm really curious when the SIM model was finalized. I'm willing to bet that the product was finalized over 2 years ago. Just wondering if anybody has any insight as to how long the club has been designed, tested, and ready for sale before the release date?

As with any product on a continuous release cycle they will have their next 2 or 3 drivers designed up already along with whatever marketing gimmick they will assign to that particular club/year.

Ahh gotcha, apologies! Turf interaction is definitely a thing with fairway woods though, see baffler rails etc. Obviously that doesn't really apply to to sweepers though, but definitely to guys that take a divot.

I had a chance to talk to some upper level product folks at TM ahead of the M5/M6 launch. What became the SIM was very far along when M5/M6 launched and they were actively working on the follow-up to SIM. These things are always 2-3 years out, as another poster said.

the SIM is being raved about for performing close to Cobra F9, ST190, Ping 410 lst/plus. It will sell more with better marketing

I would be happy with SIM if it can just spin less than the F9. The F9 is one driver I am REALLY trying to justify keeping but my best shots with it are still in the 2600-2700 range.

Man a lot of people love to rip on TaylorMade. I expect marketing baloney in every aspect of American life so easy enough to ignore it.

Have not hit anything new yet but got a look at the SIM and Mavrik side by side yesterday. In terms of footprint, the Mavrik is really big and the SIM is deeper faced and looks significantly smaller, even if they are both 460. I really like the look and shape of the SIM. The D Type head looked excellent. Mavrik is probably more forgiving with its long front to back design, but I’m not crazy about how big it looks. But I’m going to hit these plus the Cobra and the the beautiful sounding Wilson and see if any make me want to change

no it's not about ripping TM, but the M5 and M6 were quite a bit less in performance vs the F9, ST190, and others. My point is TM has now created the SIM to be equal to these drivers.. technically folks should flock to the "cheaper" options with same to better performance, but like titleist balls, TM owns the driver market for the most part and a lot of golfers only feel well when they have a TM driver in hand.
