How come so many golfers on here it driver 300yds +

I’ve played the damn game for 30 years, currently of 8 handicap and been down to 6. In all my time I’ve not met anyone who drives the ball over 300yds but on here it seems the norm?

I’m sure some do with regularity but I’d say the majority that claim to just think they do or count the one drive downhill, downwind, off the cart path as their average.

Not just that, most have a swing speed of 110+, what a load of BS.

I’ve played with about about eight WRXers. At least three of them, VNutz, ForeLife, and Conqueso all did it in our round together. And while it’s just a guess, I’d say they were all above 110. There are a lot of really good players here. And a lot who really do hit it a long way.

I was at the range a few weeks ago. There was a young guy in the next tee. They have Top Tracer at the range, he was hitting it 300+ with range balls. His driver sounded like an explosion. Mine sounded like an old Ping Putter.

Golfwrx is not the best representation of the average golf community. I've played with a few wrxers, all of us can hit the ball over 300. We're also not 50 somethings... All younger.

Well, I play regularly with 4-6 guys that can really bomb it. I carry my drives around 250-260 yds or so and I'm always about 50-80 yards behind them, hitting first way too often. Soft fairways more often than firm ones around here. Also have one good friend that has won Remax LDA Worlds about 15 years ago.

I know few members here that are very capable of hitting over 300 yards often. Better drivers and balls helps. Of course, playing with better players that can do that.

It’s all in who you play with. This site, like the guys I play with skew younger and better than average. Very few can’t hit it 300, and we aren’t playing fast fairways.

If you can swing 107 you can carry it 270 and 30 yards of roll is a non issue at many courses when dry

and of course many young pups swing 115-122

agreed...you are looking at a sample from the whole nation and internationally. You will get big doses of long hitters. OP should just accept he is green with envy

Yes definitely. I’m that age bracket as well. I used to get it out that there on a somewhat regular basis (regular being maybe once or twice a round), but I don’t know now, the last two years seem to have taken some away. I think having my playing amount cut by about 75% has had a big impact too. Would really like to play Collindale again.

I played four holes at Highland Hills today. I was shocked they were letting carts out. I guess after being closed for 80 days they decided it was time for some revenue! I figure as I keep getting older I’m going to have to keep move higher!

Too many people are concerned about hitting it prodigious distances. Pfffffttttttt. Who cares. All I care about is the final score on the hole. I love it when younger players hit it past me and I still out score them. Drives them nuts. On the flip side when some kid says he's a long hitter and this old guy keeps up with him, or out distances him. That really gets in their heads (an old guy that hits it as far as I do! ). In the end, who cares ..... let's play golf!!!

I only touch three bills once it dries out here in the summer. Probably the funniest episodes off one of my drivers last summer in our money games was when I drove the par 4 16th hole at our course. Not something I've done before, on that part 4 anyways, as I hardly hit my best drives right at that green, usually miss short left or sometimes long right after a cart path hit. Guy that was on my team after seeing that I drove the green kept pointing at the 350 yard listng on the card. GPS yardage is 320..I've no idea where the card measurement comes from as the hole is dead straight and it's a tiny green

I can drive the ball 300. I don’t brag about it but find it funny when others can get caught up with a player driving that far. The driver is a distance club and with the advent of technology, it has made it attainable even for myself. What impresses me more is my GIR and putts. Golfwrx is made up of many levels of golf enthusiasts and there are enough players on here to hit the 300+ mark. Nothing wrong with hitting less than 300 yards neither. Like they say drive for show putt for doe. I can care less how far you hit it off the tee, if you can hit a long iron in to give you a chance at a birdie putt, that is a good golf game.

I’m not impressed by the 20/30 somethings that drive it 300... I’m impressed by the 70 somethings that drive it 270.

I used to swing it 110+. You know, 30 or 40 years ago. Gosh that seems a long time ago. Back in the day with wooden drivers and wound golf balls or Rock-Flites, I could hit it 280 to 290. With modern equipment that would be 300 easily. So, I have no problem thinking others in their prime can bring that distance.

I've played with a lot of good players but I'm in my 50s and most the guys I play with are older. I'm the longer guy in our groups most of the time. But, it's all relative. A few weeks ago I carried one exactly 300 yards, right into the fog. Walked up and noted the landing spot in the middle of the fairway. But, that's not the norm for me. I just put a long swing on it and hit it on the screws. And, from what I understand it's very unusual for an amateur my age to do that. I HAVE played with some younger guys who regularly do hit it 300 yards. My golf fitness trainer will hit them out around 340 at times, which is unreal to see in person.

In general, most amateurs exaggerate this stuff or really don't know. That said, with a group of weekend warriors a 250 yard drive in the middle is pretty impressive and allows one to be able to play anywhere. After a lot of work on my swing and lots of gym time I'm starting to get back out there with normal carries around 250. My trainer says I should be 20 or 30 longer, given my strength. Working on it.

I've seen my son at 12-14 years old and 110 pounds drive well past me with regularity.
