WTF with the Golf Channel. How much 2018 Valspar do we have to endure against the vast library of recorded content.

Some of the programming you guys want to see was produced by companies other than the GC. They would have to pay additional "rights fees" to broadcast them.

Right now, money ain't growing on trees or in the stock market.

I'm not sure how many realize how low-budget GC truly is. They do EVERYTHING on the cheap...always have. Despite all the Arnie talk about his being "visionary" regarding GC, their success is really only due to one thing: their incredible stroke of luck to be going on the air at the very start of the legend that is Tiger Woods. Without Tiger, GC would have been in the trash heap years ago.

I appreciate GC only because you can usually watch the evening re-broadcast of that weeks tournament Thursday-Sunday. I don't watch TV in the daytime. I guess NBC could do that on any of their other channels and do away with GC.

I think most of us like Golf Channel, its just that they can do so much more even on a tight budget. They know they appeal to such a niche market so I don't understand why they show movies such as The Grinder and Tin Cup over and over again. More instructional programming, more classic tournaments etc.

I feel like there are events or programming that they run in the offseason that they could just cue up over what they're currently running. The hour long recaps of previous majors would be better than this. Heck, bring out the old Big Break seasons and run a marathon weekend. I haven't watched them in a week or so once it was clear they weren't doing anything to fill the void except pretend it's 2019 all over again. Makes it pretty clear they had no backup plan in place in case something ever happened.

Sky Sports have a decent plan for this week, basically splitting each day this week to a different area and putting on repeats...it’s not ideal but it is better than nothing.

Monday - Women’s Golf

Tuesday - Instruction

Wednesday - European Tour

Thursday - PGA Tour

Friday - PGA

Saturday - The Open

Sunday - Ryder Cup

As mentioned above, some Masters final rounds and U.S. Open broadcast are on YouTube hosted by Masters and USGA respectively. It is not everything I want, but contents are pretty good.

 

I do hope PGA Championship and the Open Championship stuff can be uploaded soon. Not sure who owns the old footage.
