Actually for my playing length at 44.5” we are going to need 16-17 grams of extra weight. Probably going to go with the 21gram rear from Billy Bobs to gain 10grams and then make up the rest with hot melt for swing weight but also MOI, and fade reduction.

Beauty! The more weight back the better from a "by the book" perspective. Adding that backweight has completely changed this driver for me.

I should have started with the SIM for sure. Max and Max D have been good but the lower profile face just makes it more precise to my eye. Love that these things are so tunable. Looking forward to getting her on the range

Don't be afraid to adjust face angle. I'm a fader so logic would dictate that I hate seeing a closed clubface at address. But I did just that and then used the fade bias to my advantage. My 10g weight is set in a slightly fade setting. The occasional square to path shot I get now basically falls straight.

Custom SIM is built and ready to battle for the spot against the SZ extreme with two shafts lined up. Accra TZ6 and a Fuji Atmos Tour Spec Blue. The Max D Fuji Speeder 661TR is benched and will sit this round out.

Hopefully my range is open tomorrow.

Well.  I just battled every head made vs the sim max I played all last year.  And guess what.  The sim won again.  🤦‍♂️   Closest was the mavrik , but it just has that once in a while snap hook in it since It’s so draw biased.   I can’t stand that.  It was just as long. Looked good etc. but ..... the sim just wants to go straight.  And like another poster said above.  I cracked the code with the help of a good pair of eyes yesterday.

played this driver for a year and always teed it up a bit. Yesterday I tees it down as low as the whole ball below the crown at address and immediately watched the launch go up and carry explode.  30 balls this way before the rain snd im now excited like it’s a new driver.    Tee it down lower that you think and try it out.  Now it’s just a choice between two shafts.

What is the scoop on the backweight with this driver?  I got a SIM and ditched it because I couldn’t get the launch conditions I liked.  Just wasn’t solid.  Maybe I didn’t have it setup right.

Driver just gets more forgiving the heavier the back weight....noticeably more forgiving

When adding the backweight I noticed a fade bias. Did anyone notice this as well, and did you do anything to counteract this? (hotmelt, loft/face adjustment, etc)

Yeah, adding a heavier backweight will increase fade bias. I moved the loft from 9.0 to one notch higher. You can also move the front weight toward the heel.

It’s official. SIM is in the bag and the rest can sit out until further notice.

SIM Tour Issue driver with 21gram BBobs rear weight. Head weight 202.2 grams, a Mitsu Tensei AV Raw Blue 65S at 44.5”, and a Golf Pride Tour Wrap White at perfect D2.

Range session was great and you guys were right. Likes to be tee’d low to fly high. Best position is sliding 10gram weight heel side of center or true center relative to face and loft sleeve at one click higher loft from upright position. I am actually surprised how easy it is to launch high but pleased with boring long straight balls. Thanks everyone who helped me dial her in. Feels good to be done with driver for a couple months with all the new releases.

What are the some of the differences you guys are seeing between SIM MAx and standard SIM w/ additional backweight? I would assume adding the backweight to the SIM makes it play like a SIM max, but are there any differences between the two after this mod?

Retried the 21g backweight setup. I had to put 2x4g front weights in to get the swingweight down and even then it was a touch too heavy. So then I tried 21g backweight with 3g lead tape on the back heel side and a 4g front weight.

Hit it just ok on the range and just ok on the course. Only played 9 holes in that config. Hit one off the planet right on the 4th hole. That tells me the face is staying open.

Went back to 17g backweight, 1 g lead tape back heel, 10g front weight and hit it beautifully the back 9.

Anybody try a BB 6x in their Sim? I'm loving my Ventus setup but happened upon a cheap BB that I'm going to experiment with over the winter to see if I can jump my speed up a bit more. I'm up to 116-118 with my Ventus 7x but it feels like a lot of load on the body really trying to speed train and go fast.

Curious about the sound, played with a guy today that had a SIM and the sound was very muted like a dull crack.  Is that what the newer TM drivers sound like?

Definitely a different sound than any other...

I've had mine in the bag for almost a year now & i still remember the 1st ball i hit with it (Had never seen nor hit one just bought on a whim with the 50% trade enhancement deal) I literally stroked the 1st ball it had ever touched out there 280ish and the second it made contact with the ball my mind went straight to WTH just happened. Crack is probably the best way to put it as I though I had cracked it on the very 1st swing LOL.

SIM is higher pitched (but still very muted compared to other brands) than Max and D. Also, lots of users hot melt which I have done which mutes it a little more depending on where the melt is positioned in the head.  I actually love the sound of all three SIM drivers and very curious how SIM 2 will sound with all that extra carbon.  Should be a continuation of the "muted" thud sound I suspect.

My problem is, I simply cant commit to either the SIM or the MAX D with the Tensei AV Blue...I love them both so much as of late.  Man, the problems of the avid golfer.

So increasing the backweight was good from a MOI perspective or what was the big change? Have you replaced the front weight with a lighter weight for a net zero total change or did you keep it? Just curious as I recently got the SIM. Thanks

Yeah, moi goes up. Just makes the head more stable.

I play my driver at 45" and around d3.5-4 so I was able to put a 17g back weight in (and 1g lead tape) and keep the 10g weight in. However, I did toy around with a 21g backweight and 2x4g front weights. I also tried 21g backweight, 3g lead tape, and 1x4g front weight. The 21g plus 2x4g front was a touch too heavy and I caught a lot of balls out of the heel. The 24g total weight back and 1x4g front weight met the swingweight needs but just didn't feel right.
