For what is was, I enjoyed it. Definitely not a Wolff fan after listening to him for 4 hours.

I enjoyed it.

Calling Titleist, Callaway, PING, etc, we'd love to see more.

Won't be watching The Match this weekend

Agree with most above. The course seemed boring, the golf was boring and the I was only able to even watch it for 4 holes before deleting my recording.

Seminole reminded me of a links course located in South Florida. Maybe a little like the Old Course at Saint Andrews. The Old course is not the most amazing course to see on TV, but folks who have played rave about the history and the nuances of the course. After watching yesterday I sort of had the same feel for Seminole.

I thought it was great, both the course and the event. The course strongly resembles Pinehurst No. 2, now that it has been restored to look like it did originally.

I think so many are used to seeing the lush green tree lined fairways that the tour plays on week after week. It was obvious from man of the approaches that if you go after a flag and miss in the wrong spot, you'll be working to save par.

It was also mentioned the course was playing much softer than normal due to all the rain they had in prior days.

I agree, I would have liked to see it firmer and faster as well. It does make me wonder who shot the course record of 60 there that they mentioned. The guys struggled putting all day yesterday, I take it that was a combination of them not having played the course before, except for obviously Rory and I think Rickie once or twice. And they were on their own reading putts, like you and me without having a caddies help.

Learned that a long time ago. I’ve really gotten into the architecture part of the game over the past few years and I’ve realized there are a lot of golfers who have significantly different opinions on what makes a good course than I do. There are a lot of people that prioritize conditioning and views and others who want a course that makes them just play golf shot like they are on a launch monitor trying to hit numbers. Not my cup of tea but so be it.

For me "ripped" means low body-fat (google Clarence Bass for reference)....DJ absolutely has met my defenition of the phrase....seeing him yesterday, less so. I just heard someone else reference that he had a "Dad bod" creeping in. Just the difference between 185lbs and 18% body fat and 199lbs and 25% body fat, nothing drastic, but noticeable for sure.

Enjoyed the event. but thought the course looked ugly. Can't believe it's ranked as highly as it is. Not too sure I really like the retro look that Coore and Crenshaw seem to like so much. The palm trees with the boards holding them up was a strange look. I see pictures of Tobacco Road and Caledonia, and I'd much rather play those courses.

I did not hear any of the players talking to themselves about how the blimp is facing into the wind or reassuring the player he has the right club for the 4th time or to if he should step into a 9 or ease up on a 8 or how the apex of the moon's gravitational pull is now less than 2 hours ago etc etc. You get the idea.

The event was fine...just a reminder that watching a foursome play golf for four hours isn't the most compelling television...but I don't pay much attention during the final round of the WGC match play either.

For me the biggest issue is how disappointing Seminole looked...seems like a lot of fun to play for the members, but nothing about it seemed world class except the swanky location.

To me it looked like a great course, but not at the level that the hype machine put it. Wide fairways with good movement, often with bunkers or water on either side of landing areas. Many greens with bunkers protecting the fronts requiring aerial approach shots. Looks like very good use of the dunes to incorporate elevation. It's definitely better than some boring straight, tree-lined hole after hole like some of the regular Tour courses. But was there anything that stood out above any other really good course? Obviously you can't tell too much about how the greens are from television.

It would be impossible to know.

All four of the players have a contract with TaylorMade (Rickie only a ball contract).

I am sure there are some appearance requirements built into the contract and performance bonuses etc.

Likely this would count or at least contribute to some form of compensation within their contracts.

I pretty much agree with your first paragraph. I had to remind myself that Sunday TV at a normal tournament features the 5-10 players out of 156 who have it going that week. With this format, we're not guaranteed to see guys burning down flags like we are on regular Sunday programming. If 2 out of the 4 don't have it that day, they wouldn't be on the telecast normally. So, I can see why some may have thought it was boring.

That said, I personally think it was a blast to watch.

it didn’t look good on television, I had thought that and said that in previous posts in this thread. I can assure you it’s so much better in person and gets better each time you go. First time I played there I legitimately had an Al Czerivik moment “This place sucks!” But then you start to figure it out and realize the genius of it.

Pine Valley would look better on TV there’s just more definition between holes. I do reckon that Medalist will look better on television because there will be more definition between holes in the difference of fairways to sand, and sand to palmetto scrub if that makes sense.

Surely you guys could see the approaches being trickier with firm and slick greens

I wonder how short some of the approach shots would be though if the course was firm

I did like that Seminole doesn’t have lakes on both side of every hole and houses down the fairways ,,, that was refreshing ....

It would be an awesome track on a warm windy day .. TV took some elevation out of it I think as well

A good buddy of mine who is a member at Canada’s top course, played it and loved it. I respect his opinion, plus he brought me back a hat ...
