ASK QUESTIONS: Mitsubishi Golf MMT Iron Shafts! Why Are They Different? Bonus Giveaway!

Recommended Posts

What are the differences between the “Scoring Wedge” shaft compared to the normal PW shaft from the set, besides being slightly heavier? Is it softer? Different bend point or balance?

Are there plans for a 125 stiff Scoring Wedge? I’m hesitant to try the 125 TX scoring wedge when playing S400 in wedges.

Are the 105TX MMT considered higher or lower launch/spin when compared to the Tensei AV AM(2) White iron shafts?

2 questions!

1) What would be the best analogy in terms launch/spin characteristics to one of your wood shafts? Would it be closer to 'white' or 'blue' profile, or something else entirely?

2) Would you please share the EI profile of the 125TX?

Thank you!

Since I can only play graphite, I'm very picky. I look for stable, yet responsive to what I want to do with it and definitely not boardy feeling. I have a couple favorites I like to use, so how would these compare to others in the market since it seems like this "came out of nowhere?"

These shafts are available from major club manufacturers, but only in lighter weights (60,70,80g) in parallel tips.  Will these be available for custom order in heavier taper tip options going forward?

How do these compare to Steelfiber i110? I use Stiff flex in steelfiber but X is almost everything else. Would I be a similar fit into these shafts? I like lower than regular weight in my irons so would I fit to the 105's S or TX? I use i125's in my wedges, could I do the same with the MMT's and use the 125's or will those be too stiff?

I am interested in switching to composite iron shafts after trialing Pro Orange hybrid in my driving iron and 4 iron, love the stable and dense feel and both the trajectory and dispersions are excellent. how does MMT compare to the OT tour in general? The MMT 105TX and OT tour 110X are of similar weight (113g vs 114g), same kick point (both mid/high), how do I pick one?

I have hit the MMT 125TX and they produced optimal numbers when smoothing out swing (6iron - 91 to 93) but had a really hard time shaping the ball. Felt like I had to swing 90% to make them work and the ball flight was straight with low spin.

Would soft steeping them 2x times starting with 5 iron help out in allowing to shape the ball flight more without adding higher flight?

What’s the frequency of the 125TX and if they are higher than 6.5 what is required to get them to play at this frequency.

Can you post a link to the live chat for those of us who miss it?

Big investment to just guessing as to what to purchase and how to get them built.

Currently play the i125 CW Stiff and love the feel and I would like to switch as the MMT felt much better.

FYI...Graphite is so much better on hands with Arthritis and bone graphed wrist!

It seems like most of the major OEMs only offer the lighter shafts. 65, 75, 85. Why no 105 or heavier options?

I've got Steelfiber i125 Stiff in the bag today, which play stiff to stated flex.  X flex Steelfiber plays just below rebar in terms of feel.  Due to injury, I must play composite iron shafts.

Which MMT offering will offer me the stability and weight I need, without feeling like I'm swinging a galvanized steel pole?

It already happened.

I don't want to seem like a negative nancy -  but "Johnny Wunder" pretty much ignored all of the questions people asked on here.   He talked over their engineer,   and kept talking about how individually custom iron shafts are the future.    He spent maybe 10 minutes with the first guy and maybe asked 1 or two questions from us.

@MITSUBISHI CHEMICALI didn’t get to join the live Q&A so don’t know if this was addressed. How is it to swingweight with the 105tx and 125tx? I like my swingweight D4-5 so do these shafts have low enough balance points to achieve that without too much manipulation, ie. lead tape, tip weight?

I play the 105S in my King tour irons, changed from Modus 120, they didn't have to add any weight to achieve D3

I can answer that.  Yes. The 125TX does at least.  I tested a set 6-7 months ago in ping i500 and i210.  I was able to get to D4 with 4 and 8 iron of each .  No lead  tape on the i210 and one strip on the i500 for feel more than to effect the swing weight scale.

if you need graphite this is a very good shaft.  Dispersion is amazing.  I picked up a half club distance etc due to launch and spin.  But I eventually aborted the experience before I got to test them in a head I liked better.  So i can’t give it a full comparison to irons I prefer.   But yes. You can get to a heavy swingweight.

You might check out the podcast. But if you read up 12 posts to molecurman's you'll notice the host only asked one maybe two questions from this thread.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.
