60 deg lob wedge with tightest leading edge

Hey all,

I was commenting in another thread but I thought this deserved it own. I am trying to replace my old vokey 60.04. It has a very low leading edge and has heavy relief in the heel. All the new low bounce 60 vokey regardless of Grind or bounce don’t have this tight leading edge. So I need a replacement and have come up with a few options.

TM Grind Milled TW grinds. The interview on GolfWRX specifically states that this lobe wedge is designed as a versatile lob wedge with a tight leading edge.

TM Hi toe Big foot. Despite the big bounce, I read that the leading edge is low at address.

Any other suggestions?

You can always get a 62 or 64 degree wedge and bend it strong. That has worked for me in the past to lower bounce on certain clubs that don’t offer a super low bounce option

Mizuno S18 58.04 or 60.06 bent 2 degrees down.

I would look at Edel wedges.  I have been playing these for about a season and a half.  Everyone that has seen these cannot believe how tight these sit to the ground.

Rtx4 xlow bounce. I have the low bounce and its very low to the ground

Go to Texas and get some artisan wedges. They'll give you anything you want.

The Vokey T grind has a very tight leading edge.  The L grind is also low bounce.

Interesting, considering how much bounce they have. My 60 degree "driver" grind wedge with 22 degrees bounce is due to arrive in the next few days, pretty excited about that, especially if it sits low with all that bounce.

It is truly a unique grind.  I still cannot figure out how it can have that much bounce and sit that tight to the ground.  They work really well on our tightly mown bermuda.

I have seen someone else commenting on the leading edge of the L grind not being as tight as it once was and the suggestion was that if you wished to stick with Vokey that it might make sense to take a look at the T grind.

I find bounce can be a little misleading sometimes. The Ping Eye2 XG looked like it could cut through metal the leading edge was so sharp (and sat low) but it was rated at 15 degrees bounce if i recall

 

I have a callaway mack daddy PM grind and it sits very low. You have to like the head shape because it's weird....but it's a very sharp leading edge

Love Vokey wedges but playing in Cali we have a lot of tight lies around the greens and out of the bunkers, especially in the summer.  Tried a Callaway MD5 Jaws and have been pleased with how the leading edge sits tight to the ground and allows me to hit the ball more cleanly off of tight lies. Ultimately went with the MD5’s in 52, 56, and 60 and they have been great both for full shots and around the greens.

The best answer would be a Ram Troon Grind 58* bent to 60*.  You'd still be only about 5* bounce with a quite narrow sole...

The new Cleveland Zipcore in a low bounce is snug.  Awesome wedge

My RTX4 58 is XLow and its leading edge is the sharpest I ever played.

The new TW MG2 wedge sits right to the ground. Has a higher bounce but has the sole your after. Might be worth a look

Cleveland Has an extra low bounce wedge.  I have it on the 60.  3 degrees of bounce.  It’s perfect.

This what I play and Im the guy who has the grinders take off all the bounce on previous cleveland 60* 588 lobs lol!

I just hit a couple of Edel wedges last weekend and they did sit very tight to ground despite still having some bounce.

I love my original PM Grind 64*  Once you close it during chipping or flopping, it sit very low to the tight lies.

I have an old 60.04 spin milled Vokey that I love. Got the new T grind raw and it's pretty much the exact grind. Sits really tight to the ground
