On another thread before Thanksgiving, I referenced that there would be some missing faces from TM for this coming year. I was not able to say who. This was a BIG MONEY deal, too good to pass on he felt. With their (TM) stable of high profile players sometimes you can't keep them all and while TM likes Rahm a lot what can you do?  DJ, Rory, Tiger, Wolff, Morikawa among others, Fowler with the ball.  J.Day is also going w/o a club contract because he likes some of the older stuff.

A professional golfer playing a particular brand has no influence on any purchasing decisions I make. But endorsements must work or companies wouldn't offer them. 

 

Besides, these guys could sign with pretty much any company and find equipment that works for them.

TM is adding one other player, an Englishman whose in the bag pics from a couple of weeks ago is mostly no longer relevant. It was NOT a question of not renewing Rahm---- Callaway threw the bank at Rahm!!! 

Interestingly it will be how he adapts. People leaving TM have problems switching: 1. Sergio, he signed a big ball contract (with clubs) and he had problems only to break his deal. 2 J. Rose had a big deal that lasted a year, he, too, broke and settled to get out of his other deal and went back to play mostly TM. 3 Daniel Berger left for Callaway and then broke his contract to change balls and go back to hi 2011 TM irons and then re-found his game.

Rickie is a big money Puma contract. TM has him on a ball contract, if anything I expect him to remain a Cobra player because they are owned by Puma. We'll see if he goes to a less than 14 club deal w/Cobra. I seriously doubt he will do another club deal unless Puma sells off the Cobra division. Don't count on it. It isn't happening now!

I think now that TM is owned by KPS they have adopted a “less is more” and “quality over quantity” approach to fully endorsed players. Getting Fowler as a ball/glove guy was an interesting move at the time. I see it as a middle finger to Titleist/Footjoy. But Rickie has been struggling mightily for most of the time he’s gamed TM ball/glove. Performance aside, IMHO Fowler was grabbed because of his massive following of fans. 
 

I wouldn’t touch Fowler or Spieth at this point.

Similar issue for Rahm; shadow of Tiger, DJ and Rory or spotlight/headliner for Callaway with Xander as a right hand man.

Is he though, in the popularity stakes I think Rickie is safely in front, as far as a face for a brand goes I know who I would rather have in saying that though I have heard that Cobra are signing some new players next year so we shall see.

I think so.. Has anyone ever talked about Rickie winning the masters like they did Bryson? Was anyone ever worried about Rickie breaking the game of golf. For the past year Bryson has been the talk and almost all of it...

Is true, just not sure you want all your eggs in the one length basket, and with someone who is so polarising. He is great for the brand but I don't think they can afford to have just him. He could break at any minute.
