How many golf balls do you keep in your bag?

I know a lot of people have their habits on how many balls they keep in their bags.  I usually have about 10 to 15 in various states of wear, but toward the end of fall when I seemed to find balls all over the course, I emptied out my bag and had over 5 lb of golf balls in my bag.  No wonder my bag got so heavy.

 

What’s your number?  Does it depend where or which season you are playing?

I keep 4 beaters in the bag for the chipping green and 4-6 new for the course. I'm getting older lol and that's about all I want to carry.

6 to 8. A mix of new and used. The used ones come out if I am playing badly.

3 in a new sleeve plus ever how many survived from the last rounds sleeve. So usually 5 total.  Scuffs ride in the bag until I get home and go to my home wedge range.

Depends on course. My home course I rarely lose one, so I'll bring a sleeve. New courses a couple sleeves. Rather have balls and not need them then need them and not have them. Always a couple used ones in there, too.

I carry two in my pocket in case I can't find one and need to drop and I typically keep another dozen in the bag. I'm admittedly OCD and can't accept an odd number of balls in the bag.  😄

I have about 20 in my ball pouch, a mix of the 3 I am currently testing, then I have 2 or 3 sleeves in another pocket of random balls. I keep about 20 in the porch but I am only losing a couple a round, if any.

 

I was losing a half dozen or more, but by Summer I should be down to a ball a round. I still have over 400 to work through.

 

<edit> I am usually playing solo using 3 balls on 9 holes when I'm out.

To actually answer the question, I usually keep about a dozen. A few beaters for bad rounds and mess around shots and a few new or like new balls that I play. I know it's more than I need, but I can't bring myself to carry less.

6-10.  Only quirk being they will all be my primary/gamer ball.  I don't start a round with anything else in the bag.  If I find some during a round, they are carried home then deposited with other old/random balls.

I dunno. I concentrate pretty hard when my ball hooks into the water 100 yards up the left side of the course.

At my home course, I carry three. Some other courses, and new ones, I will generally carry six. I also use three balls for practice.

Six to eight.  If I come home with 5 or less I open a three ball sleeve, mark them and toss 'em in.

6-8 typically. At least 3 brand new ones and the others are mix of new and lightly used. If I need more than that for one round something is seriously wrong and I probably need to just walk off the course. 

 

I don't keep "practice" balls in my golf bag because I don't want the extra weight. If one gets badly scuffed during the round it gets thrown into the shag bag after I finish playing.

Generally 2 new sleeves. One: because i carry and don't like additional weight. And two; because i'm supposed to be around scratch h/cap; and i'll be 'walking' long before i'll be needing that extra ammo.......

I do the "Prepared" scenario. My bag usually has 8 balls in the hopper. I usually don't lose a ball in a round,  but last week I lost 4 in one round (2 on the same hole). Not my best day. 😪

 

(Yes it was raining and 36^F.  I have a bag load of excuses in the other pouch)

I have so many in my bag lol, generally though for my round I'll start with a sleeve of what the current leader for my gamer ball is and depending on how I play, I'll probably start to dip into the found balls.

On the rare occasion when I carry my bag, no more than 8. I'm paranoid about running out of balls, though if I lose that many in a round, I may as well quit anyway. I usually walk with a push cart, so weight isn't a big issue, so I usually have some used balls from previous rounds and a new sleeve to start. Any that are left stay in the bag for next time, until it gets too full of beaten up balls, and I empty it out. For tournaments, I'll usually mark up 6 new balls and clear everything else out, just to make sure I don't accidentally violate the one ball rule.

Rangé are overrated. I usually choose 20 - 30 from the multitude (i.e., several thousand) of golf balls I have in my stock. Some days I play a bag of oldies but goodies meaning premium balls from say 2003, 2004, etc. Some days I play current models. All depends how I feel. Lately, I have had success with the OG KSIG, B-XS and the current AVX.

Depends on if I ride or walk and what kind of course it is. Usually 6 walking, maybe a dozen riding.

6 in game condition. Even if I lose a few, I wouldn't worry about running out of balls. 

 

I used to bring 12 when my handicap was high. LOL.
