Well, anyone is welcome to come over here and give it their best. And while several Euro tour stars have done so with success over the years, some becoming world wide golf legends, historically the majority of the winners have come from the PGA Tour.

It says something that many of the best players from the Euro, Asian, Latin American etc tours keep coming, that they consider this the Biggest paycheck. The Ryder Cup, while an awesome golf experience, is a different kind of challenge.

Having said that, I’m pulling for Westwood today.  And hopefully soon for his first major, maybe even at the Masters.

Fixed that for you.

Yeah, true. I feel like he’s got the calculations down pat with the greens book and his stroke length. He checks the measurements in the book and uses that for line and speed he’s not reading the greens with his eyes or feel. And yeah, bracing the putter like that should be illegal. I hope they ban it.

I mean there is a lot of information in those books, but I don't think enough to take out the ability to read a green, but that's just me.  I do totally agree that with his stroke and his practice (saying for a 10ft putt, he takes it back 3.5") absolutely takes out a lot of variables.

You rate the PGA tour too highly.

I see better quality of golf on harder and more varied courses on the European Tour.

It's why Europe's best more often than not beat USA's best in Ryder Cups.

Generally speaking a top European golfer has a wider skill set than a top US golfer.

No point having a USA vs Europe debate, but as you jumped in to belittle the European Tour, I'll make it known I disagree with you.

No, 'anyone' is not welcome to go over to the USA and give it a try.  You need a tour card to play or an invite. What you mean is any young kid is welcome to leave their home and go live in a foreign country - if they get accepted by US immigration laws - to try and build a golf career.  Obviously that is not going to be the normal route for a young European player.

Some go to college in the US, like Rahm and Casey, but's it's obviously easier to make it onto the US tour as an American than it is a European up and coming young golfer - hence most European kids start out in Europe.

The talent in European golf is excellent and the tours can not be compared to each other beyond the bigger prize money and different challenges both tours represent. But, it is no more difficult making it to the tour and winning a US PGA tour event than it is a European Tour event.

Personally I like both tours and have favourite players based on their personalities and games than which country they come from.  Frankly i was just responding to a dumb a** comment about the quality of the game in Europe.

i am going to enjoy watching today because I'd love to see any of those players win BD, JT, LW, JR.  Even the young kid Ghim, who i know little about, would be a great story.  If I were to pick one that I'd really like to see win though, it would be Matthew Fitzpatrick. Really great kid and a great game and I was incredibly impressed with how he handled one of those awful days yesterday.  His par round was my favourite of the day.  Many other golfers would have shot 80+.

The PGA Tour is flat out the best Tour in the world. While I’ll agree it’s difficult to make both and if you are a card carrying member of either Tour you’re top 500 in the world easily, the PGA Tour is the big show A number 1 Tour.

As far as Euros having a wider skill set as the reason for winning more Ryder Cups...I am not sure who knows the real reason other than they just play better. But to use the Ryder Cup as a measure of which Tour is better is perhaps the worst argument you can make because it’s a biennial exhibition. If you were to say that the Euro Tour offers more OWGR points every week or has a majority of the OWGR top 10 playing exclusively in Europe than yeah but to think rationally that the Euro Tour is equal to the PGA Tour is absurd.

Yeah, it's not, but I also don't think it's a very big difference. More like the NFL and the upstart USFL than the Major Leagues and AAA?

Hmm tbh I don’t follow nfl or usfl that closely but it’s a step down, it’s way above KF Tour (which some of my friends have said and one was even a card carrying member of the Euro Tour for two years) but not equal with PGA Tour.

Being in contention going into the 4th round in back-to-back weeks can only help to calm Westy's nerves this week, in my opinion.

Team Gray Hair for the win.

I think the Euros have a wider skill set. PGA mainly plays TPC courses in perfect weather. Euros play a wider variety of courses and play in all weather. As song as the Euro Tour keeps expanding in the Middle East with huge purses there will be lots of talent competing there. PGA Tour players don’t dominate the Euro events they play, that says it all.

One thing you definitely cannot do is compare scoring averages from the PGA Tour to the Euro Tour because of the differences in weather. That's a non-starter for sure.

Haha ok! Yeah, the difference is much closer than that. An NFL team would beat a USFL team, I really want to say 100% of the time. I can safely say a AAA team has a much better chance of beating an MLB team. That said, Euro tour is closer to PGA than AAA is to MLB.

Oh, we're saying the same thing then. I was making the point that the two Tours are very close. The USFL, for a couple seasons, had some crazy good talent: Herschel Walker, Steve Young, Kelvin Bryant, and I'm sure many more.

It was actually my contention that the USFL is closer to the NFL than AAA is to Major League baseball. 🙂

The course is playing MUCH easier. They definitely watered the greens overnight/early. Balls sucking back today like they absolute did not on Thursday/Friday -- especially Thursday.

And for people who don't play a lot of tournament golf where you sometimes get rock hard greens, the difference in scoring, over an entire field, is amazing. 2 - 3 strokes, on average it can be.

All I have to say in regards to euro and pga tour, Eddie pepperell got 2nd a couple years ago at the players he made more for that finish then most total purses on euro tour.

once again who in Jon Rahm’s camp approved this clothing deal he looks like a total slob. Doesn’t fit rights and massive sweat stains.

The USFL had their Steve Young’s and Hershel Walkers, but the talent level fell off a cliff after those few marquee players

Yeah, I thought they were better than you are portraying, but I could certainly be wrong. The main thing is that we are on the same page regarding the divisive Euro Tour vs. PGA Tour thing, buddy! 😉
