15 of the top 20 played yesterday afternoon and have morning tee times today.  Will conditions be tougher again this morning or will the afternoon/morning players get a big advantage?  Usually we get calmer mornings and the wind picks up as the day warms up.  Yesterday's early morning challenging conditions were driven by a cold front so today might revert to the normal pattern.

According to my Weather Bug app, currently 52* in San Antonio with an expected high of around 68* and winds around 10-11 mph most of the day.  Sounds like manageable conditions for most of these guys.

They really need to take Phil out of these featured groups. Nothing about his game should be featured right now. He looks like an 8 capper that is contemplating giving up the game during his round.

Agreed, as much as I love Phil it's painful to watch and not worth my PGATour live subscription. Drop Rickie also while you're at it.

Serious question: Does Rickie hang it up if his exemption runs out in 2023? He'll be 34 by then and is worth around $20 Million. He could chill in Florida, shoot commercials, and tee it up in the next match with Phil.

In a weird way he's like this generations Jon Daly.

Daly, instead of focusing on golf, just boozed and partied.

Rickie, instead of focusing on golf, is crafting his "image".

Has any hall of famer  ever driven it worse than Phil ?  I love watching the guy.  But dang.

what do you think happens if you could somehow bet him to play a pga tour event like this one with no driver or 3 wood ?  He at least makes the cut right ?    Has to be better than this shat show we’re watching.

Yep. What he needs is a good old fashioned betrayal by the fans.  Something to tarnish his image.  So he no longer cared about preserving it.  He has loads of talent.  He just doesn’t have the mindset to play well often. Much less win.

I don’t think Rickie’s image is crafted at all. I think he is a sincerely good guy as he one of the most liked by his peers and sponsors like that image.

Bryson is on the other end of the “spectrum” so to speak IMO

He won the Scottish Open and Open Championship playing a 2-wood.  Also finished very well at the US Open at Merion playing the same.

I think sponsors like winners. hard to sell equipment with a player that might be ranked 100 or more after this week, if he misses the cut. these are the clubs Rickie used to slide 50 spots in the world rankings in 12 months is a hard sell

Agreed, I think Rickie is who he is exactly. I don't think hes a David Sims (shoutout Tin Cup), but he's not Tiger ether. I just think his focus lies elsewhere. Like golf is his 1B. No first hand knowledge, but he seems more like he'd think about what hat to pass out to the fans at the 16th at Waste Management before he thinks about the shot. Kind of like JD in a way, guy definitely party first, golf second.

But also, good for Rickie. We need more of that, bring more people in. It's like they say, handful of guys on tour are chasing history, the rest are chasing money. I think Rickie is at the low end of chasing history, but at the high end of the money. At the end of the day, we want everyone on tour ot win 15 majors and be a fan favorite, sometimes you can't have both. Does it matter if Rickie just chases dough, why not. In 30 years people will still know Rickie, and it will be Martin Kaymer who?

Yep. But that was pre “ dropping bombs “ Phil.    He’s swinging like a 15 handicap ex baseball player who has speed but no desire or idea how to control it.  It’s maddening to watch.

bscinstnct is 52 and has the body of a 39 year old!  😂

Its called eating right, staying active and working out. Most guys start to live a primarily sedentary lifestyle, eat like crap and stop working out... Then blame their bodies on being older and their metabolism slowing down 🙄 Sure that has an effect, but not nearly as much as most blame on it.

For being Rickie Fowler?...guys a brand in an era when thats a thing.

Same way Arnold Palmer is remembered...most people know he's a golfer but prob couldn't tell you anything about his wins or playing style

you are comparing Palmer to Fowler? 62 wins 7 majors to 5 wins no majors. Fowler will be remembered more like Ryan Leaf then Tom Brady. Some guy that was overhyped and never came close to the hype.

Rickie is gonna win the Masters next week. That'll show you and all the doubters.

Ryan leaf? Last I checked rickie lasted more than one season on tour all within top 10 in the world except recently. Ryan leaf was a hotheaded drug addict out of the league in a year. Pretty much the exact opposite of Fowler

rickie is more like Eli Manning to Peyton

Rickie won the "5th major" Players in 2015. Looks like he's going to make the cut on the +2 number.

Ya spelled 19 wrong ; )

Ya, Camillo I remember was playing fantastic golf and then he got totally hooked on cycling. Like big time 100 mile rides and stuff I think. Not sure if it’s the reason his golf game went down but, at least...

He looks fantastic and his cardio must be insane!

Just seeing this is on and looks like he’s having a rough day after a great start yesterday
