This is obliviously the tours way of compensating JT for his Polo contract loss

It might be the tours way of keeping Tiger active with the game since it isn't likely he will be playing much, if at all, any longer.  Tiger's TikTok account is about to BLOW UP!

Taken from a Geoff Shackelford article:

Earlier this year, the PGA Tour signed a new $700 million a year television deal with CBS, NBC and Golf Channel commencing in 2022. And in 2018, a $2 billion deal with Discovery for international streaming rights.

If true.....why shouldn't the Tour players get paid!?!

Tiger should just livestream his rehab, he'd take all the Benji's.  They'd probably have to bleep out every other word though.... 🙂

I haven't heard that term before, but it is apropos. Thanks.

I recently heard the term in the book "The Infinite Game" by Simon Sinek. Think he was referring to the price gouging by Mylan for the Epipen in 2016 and ALL the nonsense with Wells Fargo also in 2016 when he mentioned it.

If you like reading nonfiction/business i 100% recommend it. Great audio book too bc he reads it himself.  Its a very thought provoking book.

Brooks Koepka is playing in a charity event, as reported in Golfwrx. Should I believe that BK really cares about the charity or is it just a way to help his score for a bigger piece of the $40 million pie.  Since I tend to be pretty cynical, I think it has less to do with charity and more to do with lining his pocket.

And that’s a problem with the reward pool.  I think that many people will no longer believe, if they ever did, that PGA Tour stars did or will do anything for a “good cause”.  It’s just to get more money in their bank accounts.

Yes, but on the other hand if the bonus system actually drives good behavior like playing in charity events or visiting hospitals or signing autographs then the system is working.  If it drives behavior that is not so good then not so much!

Maybe I'm just cynical, but my guess is 6-7 of the 10 who will receive a payout from this are already determined.

And if that is really what you want to incentivize, why didn't they make that explicit?  Not to mention, don't the private sponsorships do a pretty good job of driving behavior?  Justin Thomas is a recent example.  Or Woods and the bunch of sponsors that dropped him after the fire hydrant.

This isn't something the tour should be getting into.

They should have put it towards bringing back the people they laid off last year.

I wonder if they are fishing for sponsorship money from big tech?

It’s a hey, look everybody, we are part of the monoculture too. There doesn’t seem to be any recognition of the downsides of all the screen time - not just to fans of celebs - but to the celebs themselves. Too much screen time has big costs.

Why not look at the charities involved on tour to make sure the money is well spent?
