Ping Putters. What's new for 2022? Any info?

Just got off the phone with them.  He said the outside diameter of the shaft is .370.  The inside diameter is .352.

I do not know what they typically measure in terms of soho putter shafts.  If the LAGP works with .370 putters, would I be in the clear here?

I have no idea haha. I knew it was something funky. I asked about a shaft replacement for a putter from then a long time ago and remember it being different. I’ll look into it and see

Spent some time again this morning with the Tyne and DS72.

I think the Tyne is out as for some strange reason I would it really hard to keep the head stable on the stroke but the 2021 Tyne I was able to keep square...strange???

The DS72 was very nice and far easier to keep square...but then I picked up a Cameron Fastback 1.5 and the head is almost exactly the same as the DS72 and found myself draining everything with it.

It's now between the Fastback 1.5 and the DS72. The Fastback feels slightly softer but they both put a very nice roll on the ball. I don't like the head cover that comes with the Select though and alternative SC's are hard to fins for sensible prices.

That is a funky inner diameter. 0.370" outer diameter steel shafts around the 0.320" inner diameter range. I measured a SOHO and a Stability shaft 0.370" tip recently and they were around the 0.320", so not even close to 0.352" inner diameter.

I just can't get along with the balance/stroke feel of my Anser. Love the looks of the head and the feel off the face, but something feels off in the overall balance. It just feels wild and sloppy. I ordered it at 36.5", which maybe has something to do with it? I have quite a little stable of Anser style putters and this one just doesn't feel right. Might send it in to get a BGT Carbon Stability for SnG.

Thats a bummer was hoping I would be able to put a LAGP or Stability in it. Don't know the story of the PING Graphite shaft in the Anser but need it at 36" and dont want to add an extension.

Assuming the stock shaft would work, you should be able to cut it and install it in a stability shaft.

Can you ask them if they ever have putters that end up with 10-15 degrees of toe hang and if they ever do single bend shaft face balanced or near face balanced models

This approach will work fine as long as some portion of the shaft is 0.370" which it should be.

I was reading on Stability website and they said they could fit their shafts into any putter. Pretty cool.

To answer a few questions based on my fitting today

  • No single bend putters in the PLD custom line. I guess maybe you can try hard to ask for one and see what they will do. They have double bends, plumber's necks and flow necks (not every model has each style available)
  • I believe some of the plumber's neck mallets have a bit less than 20 degrees of toe hang, like the Oslo H
  • The stem diameter on the flow necks is like 0.350 something. the guys in the build shop actually didn't know but they measured one for me. 0.350" is a weird size for the stem, because a 0.370 shaft inner diameter is around 0.320"

That's so weird. I'd prefer 0.0 torque if it were possible. That's literally the point.

Did you happen to confirm the odd inner diameter for their tyne hosel? Putter is the last steel shaft in my bag haha. Was dying to put an lagp in it.

I tried the PLD Anser and Anser 2 over the weekend. Great looks and roll but way too muted for me. If I closed my eyes, it's as if the ball was rolling before the sensation of hitting it. I've never warmed up to deep milling so this wasn't too much of a surprise.

A flat faced B60 would likely be the ticket for me.

So I have a PLD Stealth Anser at 34.5 which I pre-ordered, feel off face is nice a little on the soft side but head weight feels more like 330g vs my 2022 BB which is 350g. I also just bought a DS72 PLD at my local shop. It was marked as 35 inches however I measured it against my Anser and boom 34.5 inches. Took the DS72 to course today and as others said it does feel almost hard vs using it on carpet. I was getting a good consistent roll with the DS72 but the feel is gonna take getting used to. Would changing the grip help with the feel? Not a huge fan of stock grip.

The DS72 feels harder than the Anser?  I have to say, my Tyne felt firmer than I was expecting initially.  But, the last few times I rolled it (indoors) I found it to be quite nice.
