PLD Custom update - did my fitting.  Great presentation of the data and the options, the guy was super knowledgeable.  It was virtual and I happened to be on an iPad, so I actually rolled a few putts while he watched!  I ended up in the Oslo, plumber's neck, patina with lite grey paint fill.

Thanks for the report. I look forward to seeing your putter.

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

How does it work? Did they give some initial recommendations based on your iPing numbers?

The stroke lab is a counter balance shaft so thats probably the difference.  A weight plug in the grip end of the ping may make them feel more similar

The old fool the swingweight machine trick….. 😉

Picked up my Anser this morning. Pictures don’t do it justice. Beautiful putter feels a little firmer compared to the Tyne 4 for me ds72 felt similar to the anser. Glad to finally have one in hand this last few weeks felt like eternity. Still not sure if this shaft is a black steel, seems like some graphite kind couldn’t tell a difference in it to the Tyne 4. Hope everyone gets theirs soon, if you have one already, enjoy!

I got out to the putting green today and here are my initial thoughts on the ds72

the feel off the face is exactly what I have been searching for. The milling isn’t that deep. It’s just right for me. You get tons of feedback on off center strikes. It reminds some of the Scotty sea mist Del Mar I had about 10 years ago-maybe ever so slightly softer. Much better feel than the Bettinardi studio stock I had last year and a Cleveland hb soft I used before.

The club feels perfectly balanced. I was worried the head would feel too heavy but the grip weight is good. The steel shaft felt nice and firm and not whippy.

I was instantly comfortable on short putts. I’m usually a fan of a top line but the flange line up against the thick face forms a nice perpendicular look that helps line things up.

The stock grip was nicer than I expected. I had ordered and received a pp58 midsize cord that I will probably intstall but the stock grip felt good. The golfworks has the pp58 midsize cord in stock for anyone looking

https://www.golfworks.com/ping-pp58-midsize-cord-putter-grip/p/pg0025/

I have some work to do on lag putting. I did not hit the middle of the face very well but it’s something I struggle with.  Distance control was still pretty good.

im ready to see what it will do on course.

The compact head and feel off the face are exactly what I wanted for an off the rack putter. Very solid chunk of metal.

Looks so good and sounds like it'll be the exact feel off of the face that I am hoping for. Can't wait for mine to come in this weekend.

Anyone who got their Anser 2, could you throw it on a swing weight scale? I rolled one yesterday and it felt a little light and hard to control.

If I went from the stock 80 gram grip to a 50 gram grip that might help or if I put in a heavier putter shaft that might help too

Thanks!

Damn it you guys! A delayed flight allowed me to pop into PGA SS and I couldn’t say no even though I just got my Scotty Newport 2 back from the custom shop on Wednesday. Love everything about this stick including grip and head cover.

I’ll take this over my Scotty any day of the week. Shouldn’t have had it stamped! This is now the 3rd Anser 2 style head in the stable. Let me know if your name is also JStang LOL.

Went to collect a PLD Tyne today that I had reserved but sadly it was damaged and it was their only one….tried another store and found one so gave it a good test against my Spider X but as much as I wanted to love the Tyne, I found it quite hard to get a consistent stroke and all of a sudden I was holing more putts with my Spider (it just keeps working it’s way back into the bag)

Tempted to try and find a DS72 instead and see if that has more consistency with it being face balanced but concerned I’ll be giving up forgiveness

I LOVE the murdered out black Tyne but £400 is a lot if it doesn’t feel perfect

I said the same thing when holding the PLD in my hand.  Love Scotty’s but these PLDs are a work of art and the graphics are clean.  Could do without the three color lines but you can’t have everything.  Let us know how it performs.

I would definitely try out the DS 72 before ordering.  It’s a nice putter but it is very small.  Make sure it’s your jam first.

I snuck out and grabbed an Answer 2 over lunch. I love the traditional look, and the feeling is as good, if not better than any answer style putter I've rolled. I tried the black Answer, which I liked, but I quickly realized I rely upon a line to aim more than I thought. The other models were great too, but I wanted to pick up a blade. Can't go wrong with any.

I cant believe how good the Anser feels off of the face. Probably the best feeling putter I have ever used. Coming from using Tour Bettis, Camerons, Toulons, etc. Well done PING.

Does the PLD milled make that much of a difference vs the regular Tyne 4?

Are you talking the 2021 line with the insert? Or the previous run of PLD Tyne 4?

If the 2021 line with the insert the feel will be completely different, much firmer only cause the inserts are mush but it's not overly firm like the LE PLD with the smooth face.
