How Many Rounds In Year?

Primo1868

Recommended Posts

Prior to 2016, maybe 20 rounds per year.

After 2016, consistently over 100 rounds, partly because I joined a club and I retired.

I don't play on the weekends or holidays, I'm not a fan of 5 or 6 hour rounds.

This thread makes me sad.  Last year i played 45 rounds, which is a lot for me.  end of the year, my wife and I had our first child.  At the current rate of play, il clock up 4 rounds this year.... Its the last day of March and ive managed 1 round and despite shooting a terrible score it was fantastic.

Hopefully il get a few more than 4, but i cant see there being many until the young one picks up a club.

My ideal would be 52 rounds a year with maybe a couple of hours each week on the range/short game area/putting green.

Congrats! The wife and I just had our first child in January.

In the northeast our season is, at best, 8 months long.  I'd love to get out 3+ times per week, but I usually average closer to 1.5.  We'll see how the baby affects that number this year.  Might need to try and practice/play 9 a lot more often and settle for 18 holes when I can fit it in.

As a 16 y/o taking Honors and AP classes, I can't play as much as I'd like. But on average, two days out of the (school) week, I will go to the Country Club and play nine then work on short game and putting for ~an hour. Then I'll play 18 on Saturday then 9 after church on Sunday. If it was up to me I'd play everyday.

If I can get 25 rounds this year I'll be thrilled. The cost to play is going up, I have a 2 month old son and I am a home owner now. My house is more work weekly than I ever imagined it would be.

I had 32 logged handicap rounds, but of course that excludes probably 20ish rounds when its not "posting season" and then also excludes scrambles/shambles or other types of tournaments.  So I'd say I probably had around 60ish rounds last year.  Which hits my goal of a round a week, but like many others have said, little ones make it difficult sometimes.

Once I can retire (way too far away) I'd love to get 3-4 rounds per week or more on average and tell my wife it counts as my exercising.

I started keeping track of my rounds of golf in 2016, on a golf calendar. Each year, I purchase a calendar, then document every round of golf. I have yet to play fewer than 130 rounds each year. In 2021, I played 162 times. The breakdown was 42 rounds of 9-holes, 95 rounds of 18-holes, and 25 rounds of more than 18-holes. It’s great being retired!

I got in around 85 rounds last year. I don't play weekends and our good golf season is 7 months. I'm happy with that until I retire in a couple of years.

I'm averaging a dozen rounds a month currently. Depending on the office situation, I will likely be playing 3 days during the week, then at least one on the weekend.

The wife starts lessons next month, so that will be good. At least a 100 rounds this year.

Played every week in a mens league, but the weekend rounds dropped off significantly since my buddy I play with started having all these kids. I need to find a new playing partner or 3 😂😆

Played a round earlier this year with three 20somethings and one of them asked me what they could do to get better (they were relatively new) and I said 1/2 kidding "Don't have kids."

When we had our three 3 girls, I literally went from May 2002 to May 2009 without playing a round. It took me a long while to get decent again, since I only get 20 to 25 rounds in a year due to weather here in the northeast.

Never more than 30, here in New Jersey, only play 1 day a week, weather & winter take many days away. Usually, 4 months off during winter, sometimes 5 if March weather sucks, November thru February & most of March.

This past April was miserable golf weather too. It did nothing but rain and be cold here in NJ

My best friend has his child back in 2013. I told him "I'll see you on the course in 10 years" he was like "nah that won't happen to me " since 2013 he and I have played maybe 15 rounds together.

He still has a round from 2018 on his scoring record (remember, only the last 20 are kept).

Last year I had 105 this year I’m on track for 40 due to a career change. 105 rounds was the most I have played in one season and it still wasn’t enough. I’m thinking close to 300 a year would get me to the point of saying that’s enough. Some have said I have an addiction and I agree but that sure as hell won’t stop me from playing as much golf as I can.

Woah, yea i hope to get a few more in than that.  I am finding it a little easier now that we are settled as a family unit.  Im also managing to use the course, instead of the boardroom, for meetings with clients.  Ive managed to clock up 11 rounds so far, with 3 more scheduled for the next 10 days.  This has many bonuses 1. During working hours, so no time away from family, 2. courses are much quieter during the week, 3. im playing multiple courses rather than just my home course, 4. my customers are spending more money with me and spill info on the competition when they are having fun.

Its more admin and makes office time much busier, but who cares.  The benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.  I may get to 30 rounds this year afterall.

You're fortunate that you can use the golf course for work. Now imagine if you couldn't. How many rounds would you get?

Oh, i know.  Its a big perk.  Ive had maybe 4 weekend rounds with mates.  We seem to be on top of the parenting and getting to spend some quality time together more often, which will in turn allow me to get out more without any guilt.  My family will always be more important than golf, but you sometimes need a break for everyone's sake.

Sitting at 165 rounds with two weeks left in 2023.  Could be a little better, could be a lot worse.
