Ventus Blue vs. Ventus TR?

hellojude

Recommended Posts

The TR mostly comes across as firmer with less of that rubbery loading quality that mid soft shafts like the Blue tend to have. Which anyone prefers will largely be based on whether they want more of less loading feel in transition overall. Or you can like both, like I do.

If I go 8x untipped in 3w, don't like 7x blue, but want a bit less heft than 8x blue AND want to keep launch up...

Is the hype of better dispersion with the TR anything more than a marketing gimmick?

TR is untipped using 45 as total length, and I came from blue 6s.

Loving the penentrating flight with firmer with compared to blue, and it does load a little bit but not as much as blue.

What’s your SS? Interested as I want to try a blue vs TR in 6S. Currently trying Black 6S, but it feels a little stiff probably for my SS between 105-110. Played a stock Alta CB 55S and 55X in G425 Max, but they launch a little too high to my liking - losing distance due to this. Also, I really like Blue 8S Hybrid in my 3H.

I've seen the dispersion with TR 6s pretty consistent, trying to hit a small fade.  It actually seems to go straighter/draw when trying to swing harder.

What you're explaining is what normally happens when a shaft is being over powered so to speak.  It's not necessarily a bad thing in your case, but when the draw starts to turn into a hook, that's when it becomes a problem.

I thought the TR would play more like a blend of a ventus black and blue, but to be clear, this is still very much a "blue" profile.  If you have a tendency to turn blue profile shafts over too much with driver, the TR is not going to be any different in that regard.  I'm back in a black 7x for that reason

Already tried 5S and it feels a little whippy esp when I go after it. From what I read/hear leaning towards a 6S TR or 6X blue.

You're right on the border of S and X.  If you go with the TR in S flex, I would recommend a good amount of tipping.  1 to 1.5 inches worth.  If you go with the Blue 6x, I would suggesting tipping it half an inch as it tends to feel/play soft IMO.

I'm looking at this for myself as well. I currently play 6x and 7x in driver 3 wood both tipped an inch.  I'm about 115-117 with the driver and was looking to see how everyone is tipping these.  I'm really looking for the 3 wood to maybe take some left out of it.  I might also increase 3 wood weight as the 105 in my hybrid has taken all of the left out of that club.

Anyone prefer the original Ventus Blue over the Blue TR? The Ventus TR range of shafts hasn't been out that long, but uptake on tour seems to be slower than the original Ventus series.

I went from the original Blue to the TR Blue. Much much prefer the the TR. I'm around 112ss with a pretty aggressive transition and the TR felt tighter and the ball flight was flatter for me, less of the high right miss that I could get with the original Blue.

I'm loving my TR 5-S.  SS is about 100.  Compared to the original blue 6-S I had previously, the TR feels much smoother and flat out performs for me - low spin, flat trajectory with great feel and no concern about ever overpowering this shaft.

They’re both super shafts. I prefer the feel of the Ventus Blue. The Blue TR is definitely firmer, which is what many like about it. I like stiff shafts that are not too stiff feeling, and in general I do well with Diamana blueboard shafts such as the TB (love that one) and the Blue is the Ventus most like it. It’s not soft by any means but it’s not as firm as the TR.

You still playing the TR? I've played the Blue (5S) for 2 years and it's the best performing shaft for me, by far. I noticed the comprable specs on the TR (Blue 5S), Tip and Butt, are a little softer on the TR, though the feedback is that it plays stiffer?

I had the Ventus Blue and tested the TR Blue extensively.  TR Blue feels noticeably more stout especially in the tip compared to the OG Blue.  A bit more stable as well.  Didn't kick as much either.  Unless you're spraying the ball with the OG Blue, I would just stick with the OG Blue if it's working out great for you.  Who am I kidding, most of us here like to tinker.  Go for it, lol.

I think the butt and tip stats on the Ventus website for the TR Blue 5S are not accurate. The TR Red 5S stats (compared to the Red 5S) indicate what you suggest - stiffer butt and tip .

I didn't test that specific weight and flex so I apologize if there's any confusion.  It was a 7 and 8X and TX for both OG and TR Blue that I tested.

I have gamed both and much prefer everything about the TR. TR feels more stable throughout the swing, but especially during transition and release for me. The butt section of original Blue had that rapid taper rate which made the handle feel softer. Typically I gravitate towards a shaft that has a firm-stiff butt section opposed to a soft handle. TR Blue feels much tighter and crisper overall and when it loads and unloads (but  can still feel it loading). OG Blue honestly wasn’t a good fit for me even though on paper it seemed like it would have been.

I experimented/compared both the OG Blue and the TR Blue over the past few months, going back and forth multiple times on the launch monitor with both of them and on the course.  The end result is that the TR Blue, as good as the numbers look, is probably just alittle too stiff for my swing.  I ended up having my draw turn into a hook on the course too many times to keep it in the bag.  Obviously, I am reacting to my perceived stiffness of this shaft, and creating this hook as a result.  On another note, between the OG Blue and the TR Red, the dispersion is better with the TR Red.  Both great shafts and I could play either, but it seems the TR Red may suit me alittle better.

Currently gaming a PXG Gen 4 0811 XF driver at 9 degrees w/ a Mitsubishi Tensei CK Orange 60g stiff at 45". I have a Ventus Blue 8S in my hybrid (Stealth 19 deg.) and it's probably the most stable/consistenly straight "long" club in my bag. I'm thinking of replacing my driver with a TSR2 and a Ventus Blue shaft but am unsure about weight and/or if I should go with the TR.

My club head speed is ~97 MPH, smooth tempo, miss is power fade aka slice.

I would appreciate any and all feedback/criticism!
