The best thing to get McIlroy out of his early round slump in majors was being paired with Tiger. Seems like he has usually played very well in that scenario.
 

I think he likes to show off in front of Tiger. It’s a larger crowd too, which helps get Rory juiced up to play better as well.

The graphic they just showed on the West side of the course where many of the holes converge was hilarious.  They had the air traffic control voices in the background.  It really is crazy.  Glad these are pros because regular guys playing would have definitely hit a few players or two.  Gotta wear baseball helmets out there.

Great to see Rory playing like this. Will be interesting to see if the field can keep pace with him over the next few days.  
 

Rory’s A game was strong enough to run away from the field 10 years ago. Now? Younger guys on the scene like Scheffler, Rahm, and others. Will be interesting to see…

No, Bob, of course not. Because I never see fans of those athletes behave the way the TW mob here does. They are not just fans. They are more like cultists.

You watch, as Rory increases his lead, Tiger will increase his limp. Huge Tiger fan but he certainly has a history of playing up his injuries when he’s being outplayed / not playing well. I wish Tiger would just play his own game, stop trying to keep up with Rory in this form, no one can, he has to just grind out his best score and aim to make the cut - that’s his goal now.

I don’t think he’s trying to keep up with McIlroy. His game is simply not sharp enough these days, which makes a lot of sense. The man barely plays tournament golf at this point.

That pretty much sums it up.  TW obviously has a game plan for the course, but without being sharp the attack holes are not many.

 

It's going to be hard to contend when you can't get in 2 - 3 events before hand to sharpen up your tournament game.

 

Yes, he only shows up to win, but this watching a guy just making a cut is just as boring as watching anyone else trying to make a cut.

yea seriously...it's the PGA so for him it's probably his most "relaxed" major but still it's been awhile for him
