I've temporarily subscribed to ESPN plus just to watch this tournament. I normally wouldn't do this but I'm helping out since golfs higher ups are still reeling from @sonnygolf proclamation that he will no longer watch the PGA tour 🤣

Because it's what I have to watch right now. If I had to watch any other network and they had this kind of commentary I would complain also, like many of us did with the Tiger worship by CBS at the Masters.

Tiger's 170 ball speed with the driver is good. More than I thought it would be with his age and injury history. Rory is the best driver of the ball the game has ever seen when you factor in the equipment, so it's not really fair to compare him to that one guy he happens to be paired with.

Yeah, the 185mph they claimed he was hitting on the range was a smothered pull hook that might have been a misread. He was right around 170 during the rest of that range session.

That will be an uphill battle for him. He will be giving up 8-10yd vs the tour average and 20-30 vs the longer guys. If anyone can do it obviously it is Tiger.

 

Still shockingly good given how his swing looks off his trail leg.

Does ESPN replay Thursday & Friday coverage in the evenings like they do for The Masters? I can't remember if they do it for the PGA. The TV schedules don't indicate they do, but I don't think they indicate the evening coverage for The Masters either.

I'm surprised by all the complaints that this is only broadcast on ESPN+. 

 

Did I miss something. I believe The Masters is the only tournament that broadcasts the entire tournament, and that's only on their website--broadcast or non-streaming cable TV coverage has never been wall to wall coverage.

I check in on this thread while at work to see how the tourney is doing, and it turns out it's just a bunch of grown men complaining about outfits /commentators and how they gotta pay 7$ to watch some ESPN

So if a golfer plays badly(ie does his job poorly), he can be criticized, but the broadcasters cannot?

Hope Tiger can greatly elevate the other parts of his game to keep up with the top players who drive a long ball, it's such an advantage. Case in point with Rory on hole 12 driving it 70yds past Tiger and flipping a wedge to 3ft for birdie, again on hole 13 with Spieth & Rory going for the green in 2 with Rory sanding it to 3ft for another Birdie where as Tiger has to play for the green in 3 shots being so short comparatively and only just managing par. The reality is todays top players are just as good in the other areas as Tiger but they have that huge advantage of distance creating many shorter irons in over him. Around Augusta Tiger's course knowledge gives him an advantage but he's gonna have to get lucky to win on these longer, bigger type courses.
