Is anyone else confused with the titleist custom chart on the AD UB  and Grpahite Designs’s chart? Titleist chart had UB higher launching and higher spin than AD Di, but that seems opposite to what Graphite Design says. Titleist fitter I talked to last week also said UB is softer than DI. Not sure if he’s just going on the Titleist chart i referenced? Am i missing something here??

anyone with the TSR3 driver thinking about switching to the TSR4?

Yup.  Just did that.  I'm getting along much better with the TSR4 and it's not a model that's targeted to me at all.   I struggled with TSR3 and I don't really know why.  Played TSi3 for the past year and loved it.

I've played a DI for about a decade and UB for the past year.  Feel is subjective, but for me UB plays noticeably more stout than DI.

Totally agree. There’s no question the UB in the same weight and flex is stouter than the DI. I have both in the bag now. UB basically feels like a tighter DI.

MY TSR3 9* arrived today and paired it with the Ventus TR a black.  Will also test it with an AutoFlex as well.

didn’t get to ever hit the TSR2 and thought about ordering an 8* head and trying the AutoFlex in that as well.  Can’t wait to test this bad boy out tomorrow.  Love the TSi3 so I hope the love continues to the new TR line.

For those who tried 1K Black shaft will this be more anti-left (hook if swung hard) vs. Ventus Blue?
I am still debating between Ventus TR Blue vs. Ventus Black to ease the left miss.

Usual Driver Data (w/ Ventus Blue 6S)

SS = 105

Launch = 15

Backspin = 2300

Total Distance = 270 ~ 290

I swung hard at one (1k Black 65 stiff) and it hooked harder and faster than I've ever seen one hook.

that is odd, interesting you found it to be more stout, the tensei 1k black specs would suggest you might overpower a S with a swing of 108-110: https://www.mca-golf.com/sites/default/files/spec-pdf/MCA-MCA_SpecSheet-2022-TENSEI-1K-Black-Wood-v1.6.pdf

Fitting guidelines solely based on swing speed are an oversimplification that is not particularly helpful. Someone with a high swing speed but smooth transition/early-moderate release may fit better into a lower flex.

Also, comparing flexes across models let alone different companies is a pointless endeavor as there is no industry standard for measuring flex and the fact that most OEM flex designations are based solely on butt frequency ranges that do not necessarily take the rest of the shaft into account (especially for composite shafts that are less linear than steel).

This. So much this. Those guidelines saying swing speed should be "this" flex is total BS

I would say I am mid swing speed? 108ish... but an AD DI in X flex feels so much smoother to me than a Tensei 1k Black in stiff. I have a moderate tempo and smooth transition.

I like golf. A lot.

Graphite Design has the profile of the UB a little more firm than the DI according to their specs and the UB is a lower launching shaft vs the DI.  But how it feels and plays and feels may be subjective.  They are both great shafts.

Not really anti left but definitely more linear feeling to me. Depends on how you react to the feel IMO.

Definitely agree here. I swing in that 105-108 range. I payed Ventus Black X in everything last year without any issues. Ultimately after going through fittings where they looked at my transition on my best swings, I learned I can easily drop down to a stiff and gain better overall numbers and distance with a smooth transition and the "hit" at the bottom of the arc. Its the bad transition swings that the X always protected against. The last fitting asked me if I wanted a shaft to maximize my swing or  one that tries to eliminate my bad misses. Not always the case for everyone but definitely in my position. I have a playing partner that can get it up in the 115 range easily. He has always swung stiff shafts and is a scratch golfer. Smooth transition and when I handed him my X shafts he hates them.

Agreed. I'm basically the same swing speed as you and have hit both the Tensei AV white and Ventus Black in X and haven't had issues with either. However the Tensei 1K black felt like a board to me. I think the characteristics can help get us in the ballpark, from there just have to hit them.

Also in 105-108 and I am glad you said the same thing I have been saying about the 1k black.

TSr3 and TSr4 with the heavy weight back (3.5 setup per Titleist) were very similar for me directionally and spin.  Went with the 4 based on looks and ego.  Good strikes with the TSr4 were longer for me.

My stats are very similar to yours (not inflated as some are on here) and I found the 1K to be great, I find it easy to turn over the driver but this one seemed to be easier to keep on line - ordered a TSR3 9’ 1K Stiff

But….try it for yourself first and see

That looks like an awesome strike! What would cause the smash to not be higher, looks like you buttoned it with an almost perfectly square clubface (slightly closed)? Just curious.

I just walked into Dustin's and he had one. Same with Dick's, they had a bunch ready to go. They let me and a friend hack away for 45 minutes.
