She has hang up her clubs and just does broadcasting now. From memory, she was pretty much Golf TV's point person when it came to working with Tiger. This year, she has been on Sky Sports pretty much every week, certainly, every week that matters anyway.

I'll take your word for it. I guess most non-Southerners feel the same way about Brunswick stew. And other Southern delicacies made from parts of the pig or hog  most people wouldn't consider edible. Pickled pigs foot, anyone?

When it comes to food, I’m very much of the Tony Bourdain (RIP 😢) type.

 

Totally things I’m not crazy about but I can eat and enjoy most anything; be it French Laundry or a good ol pig pickin around a buncha drunk yahoos that been cookin and drinkin Coors Light since 5AM haha

Like most, I think the talk of Tiger retiring are ridiculous, and cocked up by the RnA to get some hype ahead of the tournament. The mans quotes clearly state that he intends on playing at St. Andrews in the future, but that he just doesn't think he will as competitive then.

 

He's going to keep getting stronger, and use to his new leg. The pain may never go away, but no one is able to endure pain like Tiger.

Quite awhile ago, having a home cooked dinner with a very well known whisky producer/taster/owner in Scotland.  Served next to the haggis was a dram of something from his private collection.  He knew I had not had haggis before and I was a tad bit apprehensive.  I looked at him, looked at the whisky, looked at the haggis and he had read my mind.  So I poured the dram over the haggis, he chuckled, did the same, and it tasted pretty good!  Having had haggis a few times since, and never again poured over the dram, it is like most traditional dishes, pay no mind to the ingredients, and how good it tastes is all up to what went into the preparation.  There is good haggis and there is horrid haggis.

Get your point...agree...but French Laundry sucks now.  If Tony was alive and went there now, he would seek out Keller and punch him.  No taking away the history and influence, but for many years it has turned into a place flat out mailing it in and charging ridiculous prices for a boring menu.

 

Benu and Atelier Crenn put FL to shame.

 

Ok, now back to the "Tiger is going to win this week" love fest...

Oh no, don't tell me that. Was last there in ... 2010 I think? Was thinking about trying to get back for my birthday in October. 

 

Chef Jordan Khan's Vespertine in LA at least keeps the dream going. Maybe the only thing I miss about that town.

Liver, what rubbish - Haggis grows on trees on Carnoustie Golf Course, hidden in the rough, all porridge bashers know that.

I too have poured whiskey over haggis.  But it probably wasn't good haggis (Gleneagles Hotel), and is wasn't great whiskey (Black and White).

I have, on the other hand, chugged the whiskey (more than one glass) prior to choking down a serving of haggis. 
 

Didn’t work. Nearly puked. I was one of the freshmen on our college rugby team’s tour of Scotland and Northern England.  Great fun and laughs I’m sure for the older boys.

 

The other most memorable moment on that trip was watching England play Scotland at Twickenham.   The atmosphere was absolutely electric and I spent the entire match trying understand and learn the songs being sung, mostly unsuccessfully.  This was around 1977 in the stadium when the “stands” were really stands. No seats. Never seen that before.  I think it’s since been renovated. 
 

A story from that trip.  We were playing the A and B sides at U of Birmingham. They threw a great party for us the night before and invited half the town.  Many of us never made it to bed. Next morning we met for the “traditional pre-match breakfast”, or so we were told. Lots of pomp and tradition those Limeys!  This included the required toasts, with pints of bitter, to the captains and secretary’s of each club. A couple of hours later my team joined on the pitch with their A side boys, none of whom we had ever laid sight on before. 😀🤓
