This is probably the most excited I've been for a golf tournament in a very long time! Going to be something special!

Me too.  The only problem with that is that we have to wait until next April to get excited again.

hope the wind blows 30-40 Thurs-Sun

According to my windsurf site, and going by Leuchars across the bay, it's windy on Wednesday, but nothing special after that.  85* there today; it's going to be baked out.

Wind separates golfers from golf ball hitters.

Collin Morikawa doesn't play well with high wind because he always play that high cut. He played well at the US Open except round 3 when it was windy. I have $20 on Morikawa but unless he gets lucky with the wind dying down, he won't do well. He missed the cut at the Scottish Open because of windy conditions. He won at Royal St. George because it was very mild wind.

Forecasting the weather in Scotland must be a fun gig. You can just make up anything for any given day and it'll probably be right at some point. 😂

First time I played in Ireland, i brought rain gear.

We go out and it’s totally sunny. Like at halfway, these ominous black clouds appear and wind picks up crazy. I scramble to put my stuff on and the local guys we playin with like

Dont bother, this is going to come and go before you finish putting those on.

And he was basically right! 🤣

It was dope though. Lots of Irish locals really play the ball on the ground from what I saw. This one dude just barely backswing, pop his wrists, send a 2i well down the fairway running out. Same with greenside, they putt from all over off the green.

I hope there's at least 15-20 mph of wind for 2 rounds otherwise this course is gonna get eaten up. Gotta think Xander is the favorite for the Open. He's been on fire the last few months. 3 wins on tour since April (counting the Zurich). I'm putting my money on Xander for The Open. He's been close a couple times at the majors and I honestly think he's found something special.

Does winning the individual Pebble event and the Pro-Am portion in the same week count?

Same tournament same country.

What are all those blue things, inflatable couches?   Need one of those.

What was the deal, did you rent them to watch on the big screen, Or BYO?

With that wind I would be on my 3.5, maybe 4.0 if gusty. Miss those days living in Hood River and Maui and traveling the world chasing the wind.

Went to the Keys last summer with a wild hare of learning kite surfing. After a week of fouled lines and trying to ride goofy on a wakeboard half the time (definitely not the same) I decided if I ever do return to windsurfing it will be on traditional equipment. All I really like the most is to carve a regular or duck jibe and come out on plane, feet in straps and hooked in, screaming back the other way.

Man, nostalgia is strong here. Must have something in my eye…….

As I recall they were just there to use in that area.  Huuuuge fan village.

A thing I've learned in the last week or so is I'll watch literally every bit of content they make about this place and/or tournament.

You're talking my language.  But my favorite sails were a 5.3 and 6.5.  Never did a duck jibe, but did spend a long weekend in Hood River learning to go strap to strap.

weather forecast is for fairly mild conditions, upto 20* and moderate to fresh breeze(10-20mph), I'm crossing my fingers the wind is a little stronger.

Those out first on Thursday will have the slightly better side of the draw, but not by much.

Anyone else getting the feeling Tiger will announce his retirement after this Open?

I am having mixed feelings on it. Saw on GC last night where he did walk 18 in a practice round yesterday. He looked ok and pain free. But I know there is a difference between 18 and 72 holes. With his game being somewhat rusty I am thinking it will be one thing to make the cut and then playing the other 36.
