Woods will struggle. The ground is rock hard. I predict 20 plus under par if the winds stay calm. And a massacre if the winds get above 20mph.

must learn some sort or wind dance for next week, love it when the pros post huge numbers

tiger doesn't know the course better than anyone ... he's played it how many times in his life? ... he didn't win because he knows the course that well ... he won because he's really good at the game of golf ...

Thank you. Not just for this week but one of my frustrations is people looking back at venues Tiger won at and thinking he has an advantage. Tiger Woods 1996-2013 was the most physically talented player in the history of the sport. Tiger Woods 2022 with all his physical limitations is probably one of the least similar golfers to Tiger 2000 & 05 in the entire field.  That said I still think a flat golf course in moderate conditions give him a chance to play well.  But if you're playing the horses for courses angle Louis is far more similar to the guy who finished with the best 72 hole score in the last two opens at St Andrews than Tiger is to the 00-05 guy

Good to see him putting in some work.

I think he means it suits his eye. Tiger was always great at target golf and visualizing shots. Lets not forget hes won something like 55 tournaments at 11-12 venues/courses including twice at st andrews. Its a courses for horses scenario. id love to see him compete but id be happy. if he can make the cut and finish the tourney strong and not get hurt its a win.

He knows the course better than anyone and he has previously won a major with a broken leg, so he knows something about playing hurt. I think he has a really good chance, 75-1 odds are almost too good to be true.

That major was 14 years ago pre-fusion and pre-accident. I think a lot of people forget in 2019-20 right before the accident Tiger really struggled in cold weather and was horrendous at Bethpage, Portrush, and Winged Foot where it was pretty chilly.  I love Tiger and am happy he's back, but I think making the cut would be a W next week considering the highs are only in the 60s next week.

Ever played Shinnecock or Merion?  Or even Pinehurst 2, it took me four rounds there before I even began to understand where drives and approaches should be. And bad places to avoid.

i don't think it matters anywhere ... they're pros ... does it matter the first time they've played it? ... obviously ... tiger won the 3rd time he played at augusta ... didn't have to build up a bunch of experience ...  i distinctly remember him saying he could adequately chart the course during his first win since he didn't have to work on assignments for stanford classes that time ...

Wow with the hammer being held over the head of this thread, I see at least 10 posts in just the first two pages that should be deleted….if the mods are gonna enforce what they inserted in the title.

And that is a pathetic situation golf is being put in because someone decided to try and kill the PGA tour.

I think he means that any other course used as majors is way more accessible for practice aside from Augusta
