The 150th Open (*** NO LIV DISCUSSIONS/REFERENCES ***)

The Open Championship played at this Golf course is the absolute epitome of a Golf tournament.

 

Can't wait.

 

For me, I'm hoping the coverage will include segments in regard to the history of the course, players. Don't want to see a barrage of shots that just makes my head spin. I enjoy hearing about different golfers. Enjoy them talking about the different holes. How things have changed over the years.

 

Again, for me, I'm interested in most all of the different aspects that make this the best of the best tournaments ever. Not just a baziilion golf shots strung together in an effort to show "more shots."

 

Either way, this is going to the best.

Okay,  that's a tremendous first post OP (thanks for making the effort), but a couple of things concern me.

 

Firstly, looking at that weird stance Tom Morris Jnr has in the photo with TM Snr, how the hell was he Champion Golfer of the Year!!?! He looks like he's about to play ice hockey!!?!

 

Secondly, also photo related, that montage of Seve's iconic fist pump thing is very irritating because Seve manages to transfer his weight to his lead foot in his celebration more than I can in my full swing ffs.

 

Rock on next week. Come on Rory!

I think you’re confusing @MattyO1984 ‘s handy with his post count, which is just a wee bit higher than yours!🤓🏌🏼‍♀️
 

Matty is an invaluable resource who posts the “official” WRX intro for each weeks tourney, or in some cases such as this week more than one. And yes he knocked if out of the park with The Open intro. 
 

But I’m with you 100% on Rory. And resigned to be disappointed again.

Sorry, I didn't make much sense. I meant to say tremendous first post in this thread (rather then first post ever). Which it's clearly not. Sorry! I'm a noob here and just very excited to have found a golf forum by accident! And whilst I'll becheering for Rory, I randomly put an either way bet on Tyrrell Hatton - don't know what I was thinking - so he'll get my support too!

doubt it, he clearly said after Augusta he had his chances to contend for the tournament (not my words, his) and he was looking forward to the 23 Masters to get another shot at it.

Looking forward to holes 1-11 and 17-18. Great holes. As well as the 16th approach shot and green.

 

this is quite similar to another almost as famous golf course on the west coast of the USA.

I know that it is unpopular opinion here but I don't like this course after seeing the video that went over each hole. Too many undulations on the FWs. Too brownish and unmanicured. Just not easy on the eyes for me. I am to used to American courses.

If you were born and reared in links’ country you’d probably form a different opinion. If I wanted to play darts I’d go to a pub. 
 

I fish in wild salmon rivers, you’d likely fish in a stocked lake. That’s the difference really.

Go play it. The place oozes Golf. 
that said, I’m no lover of the stretch of holes from after 11. Not seeing on TV, not playing. That changes towards the approach of 16. Quite considerably.

Your current favorite player of the moment is now is the Open Championship. He backed into it due to others having to W/D from the event. Decided to post this since many here never read other sites about golf. 😂

Woods will struggle. The ground is rock hard. I predict 20 plus under par if the winds stay calm. And a massacre if the winds get above 20mph.
