New Titleist irons - T100 & T150 comparison - 2023 Memorial

I think what's happening is that they are moving the T150 into more of the middle spot of the T100 and T200.  The T150 is slightly bigger than the T100, etc.

I like your thinking.

I was thinking the 150 is what it is, and 100 now replaces the CB.

Tomato, tomorrow.

We won’t really know until The Open.

Thanks for all of the answers guys, but sure does seem (like I thought) to require a lot of manipulation to get gapping correct.

No doubt, and for me it was well worth the annoying extra effort. I had considered bending 9 iron to 41*, then just getting the regular T100 pw and gw. So you would have a 5 degree gap from 8-9 iron and 9-pw, then 4 degree gap from t100 pw-gw (which is 50*). This would have been easiest fix, but at that time all Titleist orders were taking so long to ship and decided against the long wait.

I know this is personal preference, but at the end of the day there are certain shots and certain yardages you can hit with each club. For me I'd rather have a bit bigger of a gap and have to learn to take a few extra yards off a PW or a GW than I would trying to take a few extra yards off a 9 iron.

For those that played the T100S, how did you gap the wedges? It also makes it really hard to blend T100 with T150. Not only is it 2* stronger but with the tungsten and speed slot, you hit them even further as if there was a 3* stronger club (7* gap) between say 7 iron and. 6 iron.

If you have 44* PW and you want to end with a 60* wedge, what two do you put in the middle? 44-50-56-60? I guess you could bend some to 44-49-55-60.

What did you guys do in the past?

For 💩 and giggles I decided to count the notches in the back cavities beside the model badge. Both have 40 notches.

I know this is my problem, not yours, but this still adds another wedge to my bag and unless I  can drop the 4-iron and just stop with the 5 iron at the top end of the bag, then I still have an issue.

I currently have 46-52-56-60 with my 46 Vokey being my PW. Maybe I could bend the 9 iron 1* weak and keep it the same with T150.

All of this is just conjecture until we get the specs and hit them in the fittings, but it’s fun to think about it!

That's an interesting setup. How does 5 wedges work for you?

I have the same setup and I don't think of it as a 5 wedge setup. the PW and 48 are just irons to me.

It will be time to retire my 2019 T100's soon, so both new T100 and T150 are strong contenders. In an ideal world, I'd probably prefer a T150w with traditional 46* PW lofts. My 46* SM9 PW isn't going anywhere but I need the lofts/gaps to make sense. PW goes 140, so 9i needs to go like 152-154 regardless of what the badging is. 160 yard 9 irons don't do me any good.

I guess I could do like T100 7-9 and T150 5-6, with maybe the 5-6 bent 1* weak if they jack the lofts too much?

Interesting.. I think I would just do the T150 in then4 iron then T100 for the rest but just bend them a couple degrees strong.

If they are available in black from the jump I will probably be ordering right away, and would look to have this as my setup, although I could also see swapping in some t100 in the scoring irons depending on the new info that comes out at actual launch.

I wonder if the wedges will have the lofts stamped on them again. Not a big deal but I personally didn't like it on the PW. The leading edge looks different to me on the new ones in the pictures I've seen so far.

Please don’t say T150 will be 2 degrees stronger through the whole set!? That was a big mistake in T100s messing up wedges.  I hope it will be progressive set like most other brands offer. A players iron, but a little bit more forgiving, a little hotter but still with P being 46* and then progressive down to 7 about 32* and 4 to 21/22*. That would be my dream set.

I have the T100S, had them weaken 2* and now they are the best with PW at 46 so my wedge gapping is 50,54,58.  Plus now the clubs have no offset.  game changer for me.

I like this, I’d rather have less offset and deal with the bounce. I’m a picker so even with adding some bounce once won’t make a difference. A 46* T100-s is still going to go further than a T100 because of face.

Everyone is talking about 2*, what if they just split the difference 1* strong.

Very curious about this setup, with the 2* bending weak, do you find any issues with turf interaction due to the bounce changing?  Are you generally a picker or digger?  Are your usual playing conditions softer?  I too would love to have less offset, but not going to the MB to get it.

I am pretty excited about this release. I don't want to change my wedge setup, so hoping the t100/t150 can blend well.

IMHO - this really puts the T150 back towards the original AP2 footprint, with the T100 as the more compact, tour preferred version of the design. Both have the design and tech advantages with the tungsten weighting, but I think in recent iterations the T100 version has skewed too much towards the tour preferred (“WRX-preferred”?) version. The blade like profile of the recent T100/T100s was enough to veer me towards the Miz Pro 223 as it was fractionally more forgiving.

This split reminds me of the older Titleist designs where there was the design for the masses (962, 990, 762…. Now T150), and then the adjusted “b” variant that was more compact with slight tour preferred characteristics (962b, 990b, 762b, T100). The 962b had a different sole design than the standard 962, for example.

This is what I'm thinking about doing, maybe T200 4I assuming the lofts are the same. Bend the T150 5i a degree weak and you have your 4* gaps through the whole set

Yup or that, the way i look at it is this.  Anything with 30 or more degrees of loft does not need help launching the ball and im a decent enough ball striker to find the middle on somewhat consistent basis.  Then a little help with a 5 and then 4 can go either way.

I don't understand how a 44* PW can "mess up" wedge gapping.  I play a 48* gap wedge, 54*, and 60*.  Four to six degrees between wedges is perfectly acceptable.

Everyone has their opinion, but I would not want 6* gaps in wedges. That usually equates to 18 yard gapping between wedges. That leaves way too many half-wedge shots in your scoring clubs in my opinion.
