How does the T150 sole compare to the ZX7 sole?

The T150 is a flat, midsize sole for this type of club. It's pretty progressive as the shorter irons it's thinner and it gets wider in the 4-5 irons.

I find it goes through the turf well, i dig a bit more than normal but nothing that effects performance

The Srixons have that beveled sole....i don't have a ton of experience with it. But it's a different sole

This is a physics thing I believe, the muscle channel wouldn't have any real benefit in 8-PW/AW. Taylormade said as much with their speed channel, as that disappears at 8 iron as well. If I remember correctly, my old set of JPX 900 Forged had no undercut channel in the 8-AW. At 35 degrees, the delivery into the ball is too much of a glancing blow to see a benefit in ball speed. I'd say because multiple manufacturers come to a similar conclusion, that there has to be some truth to it as well. I can certainly say from hitting multiple models with this feature, I'm not sure I'd want any more peak height from the scoring clubs, as most of them were plenty high already. But that's more of a personal anecdote/preference.

This is a good description.  Most players sets tend to move the cg from low in the the long irons to progressively higher in the short irons to help control peak height.  The cutout with most of these players distance irons (muscle channel as it’s marketed) reduces the amount of metal mass higher on the club, replaces it with some sort of polymer to help feel and acoustics, and places in lower on the club.

Was fitted at Club Champion for P770 with i95 Steelfiber regular flex shafts a couple years ago, 77-80 Mph club speed with 7  iron.  Never really liked them so we back about half a year ago and got re-fitted for Oban CT-100 shafts stiff and got more consistency, but didn't like the way they felt compared to my old AP2s that I had 5 years ago.

When the T150 came out, went to a PGA superstore just to hit them.  They felt great, so made the plunge to order them on my own from Titleist, got 4-PW with Nippon 950GH stiff (closest in spec to the Oban CT100).  Got them in 3 weeks.

Did first session on Trackman at a local range with indoor bay, and they felt really nice.  Spin was solid, 4900-5000 with 7 iron which is good for my swing speed and sweepy angle of attack.  Consist all the way through the set.  They felt a lot less clicky than the P770s and easier to tell when I get hit them low on the face.  Going to take them out for 2 rounds this weekend, and I hope they are a little better out of the rough with the slightly smaller soles.

Overall, I am super happy with the purchase even though not cheap LOL.

Hopefully you’re above 48* land angle with those spin numbers or you’re dead in the water.

I ordered a T150 set(6i-gw) with a T200 5 iron a couple of weeks ago. I was then informed that my order would not be shipped for 3-4 weeks as Titleist stated that the T150 heads are currently out of stock in my region.

My fitting results showed that there wasn’t too much difference in the results between both the T150 and the T200 when I tried them. The T150’s spun marginally more for me and felt better. The T200’s spun approximately 200 rpm less but were a bit more forgiving and carried a little further due to the 1.5 degree lower loft. I am fortunate enough in that I’m not in dire need of distance, I am more in need of higher launch, higher spin and a touch more forgiveness than what the T150 results were giving me.
I’m a 6 handicapper but the weakest part of my game is low launch and low spin ball striking. I’ve had many lessons and various teaching pros have been perplexed that my launch isn’t higher despite attempting to make subtle and more pronounced swing changes to address this issue.

The decision was ultimately up to me as to whether I would go with the T150/T200 combo set or a full T200 set. I decided on a whim to go all T150 with a T200 5 iron. However, the more I thought about it, I questioned my decision and I felt that I’d be less confident standing over the ball with the T150’s knowing that they are a little less forgiving and that I need to be a more precise ball striker. This, as you all probably know, is not a healthy preswing thought to have.

As the T200’s demonstrated for me that they are a bit more forgiving, provided good launch and spin, I have elected to go with a full T200 set with 1 degree weaker loft, 1 degree flat and with the AMT red shaft. All these components are translating to higher launch, higher spinning shots(I was able to get approximately 150 rpm more with the T200 bent a degree weaker, higher launch and less rollout) and more forgiveness. I was able to change my order no problem as they weren’t shipped yet.
As I mentioned, the T150’s felt a bit better, they are so pure but the T200’s give me that little bit more confidence over the ball and that is something that I prioritise highly.

It’s pretty evident as to why these irons are phenomenal and will indeed be all timers.

I have a set of T150’s with my usual LZ 5.5 shaft, but am experimenting with a T200 full set with a modus 105 to help offset my +1/2” length on swing weight. My fitter thinks the lighter shaft will get the swing weight I seem to prefer, but what I have seen in the few rounds I played is that T200 are easy to look at and offer some forgiveness over the 150’s. I don’t think I’ll keep the gap wedge in T200 but the rest of set is honestly very similar to T150 in size. The launch with the modus is higher and I think I get some extra carry. Will need to get back in fitting lab to confirm but no shame in liking T200 over the T150 for us mortals.

Had my first round with full t150 w px lz 6.0 yesterday. A few observations:

- the launch monitor was saying my spin with the 7 iron was 5500 which I was really worried about. On course performance was totally different. Every time I hit the green the ball mark was only 1 foot from where the ball landed. Insane.

- at 1 degree weak, the turf interaction was wonderful. Carved through the turf like butter.

- I really love the muscle channel in 5-7 iron. Definitely way more confident with those longer irons than my last set (ping i25s)

- the bag appeal is real. So classic and sleek. The bottom of the club looks like the titlelist blades with the new logo placement.

- the feel is unreal. To maximize it you probably need to be a better ball striker than me, but on pure shots it was magic

Def still need some time to adjust to the weight of the shaft but really impressed and glad I got em!

Is the muscle channel in the 4-7?

This doesn't surprise me.  Getting the ball to land and stop near the pitch mark is more about height and descent angle than spin.  It sounds like these are working out great for you!

I mentioned earlier in the thread but i'm 5500-6000 with a 7 iron and it really hasn't been an issue for me either. And i wouldn't even say i launch it high , more mid if anything.

Most amateurs play greens that are in the 10-10.5 range or slower. Pretty easy to hold.

Yes it's only from 7 iron down.

Ya. It was a bit wet and cold here in Vancouver too. So probably easier than normal to stick.

Actually I have one piece of feedback for these irons. If somehow you miss high on the face, these irons aren't for you lol. Heavy toe side and high on the face is punished big time with t150s (altho I think this is most irons....).

Finally got my T150s in! Decided to go with these because I loved the feel and the lofts fit well with my both of my preferred wedge set-ups (I either go 52, 58 or drop a hybrid and play 52, 56, and a 60 for my wedges depending on course and or conditions).

First round in blustery conditions and I was picking up about 8 yards of carry over my old irons, while also getting substantially better height and stopping power. These are REALLY forgiving for this type of club, but the 5 and 6 require a good bit of focus simply due to the size of the head. Still glad I went 5-W in the T150. I should probably be playing the T200 5-iron, but it feels like hot garbage compared to the T150. Maiden voyage was very pleasing. Hope the honeymoon is a long one!

Is there any downside in going with the T-150 or P790 as a scratch handicap? I seem to put a lot of spin on the ball and these give me the best numbers? Why don’t we see a lot tour players with irons like this?

If these give you the best numbers why worry why someone else doesn’t play them?
As a former scratch, but aged out a bit, I recall what a pro at our club told me. Me worrying about tour usage(at the time) was about the same as a 9 or 10 handicap choosing equipment based on what I played.

T-150 and p790 are not in the same category IMO

p790 are a lot more game improvement. Strong lofted, thick topline , low spin power bats.

t150 are not the same
