Im not just saying this because callaway is my main brand to me so im somewhat biased... ive tryed alot of stuff and i mean alot... in all categorys.. but specifically woods callaways makes the longest and most forgiving combined to me. My longest drives? Callaway. My straightest driving rounds ever? Callaway. My lowest rounds using which brand??... callaway. Now... ive said this before... they can make a beatiful iron but the feel is usually abit more harsh then most brands. Not tottaly off putting but ive hit irons much more nicer feeling on good and bad strikes. But ask me again who my lowest rounds of golf for irons have come from.. callaway. Wedges are amazing.. putters amazing. If i had to sign with a brand today you better know it would be callaway for a full bag.

I’m currently gaming the apex cf 19. Love the clubs, I just want something that I can shape the ball a little easier. I don’t want to lose much forgiveness. I was thinking apex pro. I need and iron I don’t lose 15 yards for slight mishits

Are wedges part of this release next year or will that be the following. Jaws Raw are nice but would have liked a fully raw wedge instead of just a raw face.

Based on callaways comments during this release, no.

 

the intent was the the apex line (mb,cb, pro) to replace the previous generation apex mb, tcb, x forged, and apex pro into one line up.

 

It looks they have created a new apex tcb to add into the line as well.  It has not been released to retail at this point although there are pictures of one in a wrapper floating around.

It is pretty good. The problem with Callaway utilities continues though. They are so flat launching. Work well when you want to mash one off the tee. But becomes a bit of a one trick pony.

I’m glad they changed the lofts to sort of  match the iron lofts. I have the X Forged UT iron but hated how it came in 24-21-18 lofts when the 4 iron I was looking to replace with one was 23*.  Ended up bending the 24* to 23* but wish these lofts were available in that club.

I love the 24* bent to 23* off fairway lies and even out of the rough it’s fine. Launch is great with it. The 21* was really only good off the tee though and never hit the 18*.

I suspect that Callaway has retired the X line.   IIRC it began with the X-12 iron, then we got the X Forged wedges then irons, X Hot woods/hybrids, etc.

 

Perhaps I'm reading too much into things, but if you look at how they use the X in ApeX, that might be a hint as to where the lineage lies.

I haven't heard a single peep about a new X-Forged iron.  I would be VERY surprised if they released an x forged in 2024.  I could see Cally revamping the line in future.

I love the look of the Apex CB and pondering a set.  Playing i230s now which I really like, I wonder how much of a drop in forgiveness the Callaways would be or if it wouldn’t be far off.

For myself, I’d say that the i230 looks a lot less appealing in the long irons, and the CB’s looked more players iron vs players GI iron. The interesting thing about the CB’s is the subtle forgiveness with thin shots, and not losing a ton of distances. Unfortunately that’s my miss currently.
