I can’t stand it when people are late to there tee time. I have a few guy that are either late or just barely making it in time for the tee time. Then when they do get to the tee box. They take 3-4 breakfast balls. And b**** that they are last group out.

Hey @jomatty...if you hang around WRX long enough, you will eventually find yourself on a lot of lists. 

 

I happen to be a guy who doesn't care where people stand while I hit the ball (as long as they are a safe distance away, of course) so I never really gave much thought to it. 

 

Then, I found out some folks have a real problem with where you stand while they hit the ball. So, I have tried to become more sensitive to others' needs in this respect.  

 

If you'd like full diatribe on why having a dish towel hanging out of your pocket is the kiss of death for me, I do have a lengthy treatise on the subject which I can share.

 

If you've ever read Lawrence Stern's "A Sentimental Journey" or perhaps Carlyle's "Sartor Resartus"...it's kind of like that. Difficult to explain and really, really boring. 😁

1. General lack of situational awareness encompasses so many things.  I don't want to belabor this point, but you know it when you see it.  Most slow play comes from this, or the next one....
2. ....drunk during play.  Way too many issues from some jagoff getting lit like a Christmas tree.
3. Offers of unsolicited swing advice.  Unless we've played together for 25 years, don't.
4. Political talk.  Start this, see you later, I'm gone!

I’d take that as a compliment if it was in fact a good effort, however I suppose some people say it regardless.  
Similar to my Irish caddie experience, where they all (except the “A’s”) are inclined to say after a poorly executed shot, “unlucky bounce”.

This is well put. Do I care if you have a beer or 2, no but Im not a college kid at the club.... Do I have political views, I do but Im trying to have a good time... Lets talk about anything lighter!

There was a guy had the earphone in all the time, phone on automatic answer. Phone didn’t ring, he’d just start talking out of the blue, even while he was hitting a shot or putting, or when someone else was hitting.   This would happen 5-10 times in a round.  

Apparently the rest of us “didn’t matter”.

Yes, cellphones. Keep them muted. I occasionally play with a guy that keeps his ringer on full blast and his wife calls him about trivial things like three times a round. Very poor etiquette.

 I play with a guy that likes to tell stories and tell jokes while everyone else is teeing off. When it is his turn to tee off he makes an announcement about being quiet. 

A few weeks ago he is telling this story while I am teeing off. He comes up next to tee off and I start laughing out loud. He says can you be quiet? I continue to laugh and tell him I am sorry but your story was so funny I can't stop laughing. I continued on with my "fake" laughing while he waits for me to be quiet. I finally stop laughing and in the middle of his back swing I crack up laughing for real. 

I think he got the message at least for awhile.

The constant phone calls on the big Bluetooth earpiece were more of a problem a number of years ago. Texting is so prevalent now I think that’s replaced a lot of the inane calls that used to be so disruptive. Unfortunately that’s been replaced by people jamming out to the same six Dad Rock or pop country songs 😖

I'm annoyed by people that don't fix divots or rake traps. But my blood boils when someone is waiting for the group in front of them to hit when there is no chance they could remotely reach them. And then of course they duff it, though we've all done that.

More than 1- 2 practice swings drives me crazy. Played with a guy once who took 5 very slow practice swings on every shot. I dumped him after 4 holes and played by myself the rest of the round.

Haha, I'm old and the music should bug me but I'm getting to the point where I kind of like it. Only a couple of buddies play it but It's ok with me now. Hated it at first for sure.

When you're in the center of the fairway at 120 yards from the green, you top the ball with your wedge and it roll all the way down on the green, then someone says nice shot!. For me, it's a bad shot.

Inconsideration is the one for me. Just be kind and considerate out there. 

 

The list of inconsiderate issues is too long to mention, but here are a few

 

-getting drunk

-treating the course like a frat party

-slow play

-not taking care of the course

-being loud or inconsiderate when others are trying to hit

-throwing tantrums

-my new favorite, accusing people of cheaing and being liars when they "broke" a rule that's no longer an infraction

-hitting or picking up someone else's ball because-hey, it's a free Pro V1

-not playing the correct tees for skill level

-general entitlement and lack of respect 

 

Every one of these comes down to "be considerate of other people's time and experience" or "your right to be an a-hole ends where my rights to have an enjoyable experience begin".

Yeah like they're working, they don't care about you they're out there to sell drinks and snacks. Never once in my life on the course have I ever considered hitting on the cart girl and I'm not even old. Most I've done is some small talk but that's cause the cart girl was chatty but I just figured she was bored or sick of other golfers on the course.
