Never Compromise Putters Comeback

Just saw a tease on Srixon's Instagram page, looks like they are brining back Never Compromise putters as the Srixon line of putters after killing off the brand years ago.

 

That's all I have for now, putter line will be announced/released tomorrow (January 23).

Interestingly, the old Never Compromise reminds me of something from the Cleaveland line.  

 

Will Hideki own 50 of them by March and still stick with a Scotty?

I had an old never compromise mallet that I loved. I picked it up at my parents’ house and couldn’t believe how light it felt compared to current day putters.

 

Easy to line up, kinda like a rotated Jailbird colorway

This makes sense. No Compromise and Cleveland had a connection through Vijay Singh - but I don't know the whole story.

The whole umbrella right now is weird but Cleveland way back bought Never Compromise but basically scuttled that brand. Cleveland was bought by Sumitomo Rubbers Industries with the SRI Sports division which is now acting as Dunlop I believe. It's super confusing honestly.

 

Basically Srixon never had putters, SRI Sports has a putter brand not being used, Srixon now has a putter line.

I can understand why Dunlop/SRI/Srixon would want a full equipment portfolio. 

 

But, I find it pretty incredulous to suspect this was a long term plan. I also don't know why you'd pick "Never Compromise" (of all companies) to resurrect. 

 

Clearly, I don't think like CEO's.

They did have a good thing going before they got bought up. They had a 2-Tone putter like the Versa line and also their Dinero line which was forged and milled. Maybe Cleveland wanted something from them like TaylorMade and YES, but YES is dead while their tech is alive.

You've got a point, certainly, but I never saw any of that tech as being proprietary to Never Compromise. Not sure they had clear patents on it. 

 

But, of course, it brings the Yes! comparison to mind. Now you've got both Adams and Bettinardi (in a limited fashion) putting out the C-Groove technology. I'm sure the story behind that is equally stupid. 

 

With all of the toing and froing of companies these days, it is just so hard to keep track. It all just adds up to a couple more points in some hedgefund portfolio somewhere.

It takes some time and it is confusing if you don't keep up with it, but it looks like SRI/which is Dunlop Sports now will have at least 3 golf brands going at the same time.  Full line up for Tour/players Srixon/Never Compromise,  GI (less cost) Cleveland/w their own putters, and the uber expensive XXIO which has a full line including putters.  In tennis and racquet sports, Dunlop/powered by Srixon has been making its move for a few years now.  More to come I am sure....

When I was a junior I owned a ZL Alpha. Really liked that putter. Can't wait to see the new generation of putters.

Yeah the tease did have the 2-Tone look to it so maybe they're going after that Versa style alignment but will see what happens, just another option for people maybe something a bit more fancy than what Cleveland offers right now more in line with Srixon stuff.

I've been curious what Adams making their new C-Groove will do for Bettinardi. Did Adams buy the patent? Will Bettinardi still be able to make the c-groove putters for Fitzpatrick? Do we know anything about that?

From my understanding, Adams bought Yes, TM bought Adams. The C groove patent also expired, from what I read before, so there is that.

Didn't Norman play a NC back in the day? I had a couple, an earlier one was exceptionally soft, and the one I got later I remember was clicky. I know I didn't care for it, and moved on to the now infamous Scotty's.

I'm excited! I completed a Cleveland/Srixon survey a couple years ago, one of the questions was "How interested would you be in a relaunch of the Never Compromise Brand?", to which I promptly responded 10/10. I'm glad to see they're finally going for it. Likely a higher price point than the Cleveland lines, to fit in with the "better player" Srixon demographic.

Jean van de Velde was  the biggest wielder of a NC that I can remember…… It didnt  end well for him……

They had some decent putters back in the day.  I had their wedge at one point....it wasn't too bad!

I was lucky enough to demo the new Never Compromise putters. I really enjoyed putting with the new line. They rolled really nice with good feel. There will be will several different head shapes.

My money is on an Anser/Anser 2 style with a flange line, an Odyssey #7 wingback style and a mid mallet.

 

I had one of the original 3 piece gray and black NC putters. It was cutting edge at the time but didn’t last long in the bag.

 

NC lost their way quickly by not staying true to their original gimmick / marketing pitch and became just another putter on the shelf.
