Bryson’s new Avoda irons

I can't tell if you're trolling or not, so bravo

But a lot of the hostility Bryson receives about this gear is largely do to the fact that he's out there just making up this own equipment terminology. He plays a 9* mini driver as a "3 wood", has a 13* "5 wood", and a 17* "5 iron".

I'm never intending to troll, but with a humor as dry as mine, I recognize that I'm always walking a fine line.

More than anything it's a sign that the weather should be good this weekend, work is super boring today, and I'm just trying to kill a few hours standing between me and the course.

I wouldn't be surprised if BD has an ownership stake or is an investor.  Can we get an Avoda descending loft mille putter line?

I think you’re spot on. He seems to have embraced the business side of the game and likely invested in the company. We’ll see how much it impacts his game. He had such a solid year last year.

Investing in avocados might be more profitable. All I see when I look at the name of this company.

Their pricing seems to be inline with the big brands almost. Would like to see what they offer over the DTC brands

Definitely his own man who marches to his own drummer.  And he laughs all the way to the bank.  I respect that even though I may not like his equipment choices.

You didn’t love his Edel irons?😀

It’s possible Bryson drove David Edel to drown himself in Coors Banquet for the next several years.

This seems to make the lost sense, he has plenty of money now, I think deep down he wants to be the reason he is successful.  I could see him having ownership and being a part of the development.

They offer LA golf shafts?  It looks to me like this is Bryson's own DTC brand.  He already has a decent following on YouTube, so I'm sure he'll start promoting then there if he hasn't already.

The pricing was a little surprising for what they are offering, it will be interesting to see if the single length options are enough to justify the price.

Standing by for Bryson’s new one length, extra moisturizing irons (with aloe vera).

For damaged swings.

If they can get Tiny Troy they might have a hit on their hands!

Have to think an equity stake is the major element making a deal like this possible. There's no way BDC alone is enough to warrant the kind of cash major OEMs can afford to pay out for to add a single name to their already established stable. No way BDC alone is going to bring them crazy revenue numbers that would normally offset normal club deals.

Am curious as to what they would need to do in unit sales to clear a million or more out of this given the lower price point but likely higher margin. Not a brand I knew despite many of the newer DTCs getting a lot of discussion on here.

The question is, do these irons have the towing capacity to carry Bryson’s ego through 18 holes? Time will tell.

Can you give an example of “Bryson’s ego”? It’s been mentioned a few times, but I’m curious what exactly you’re referring to. I’ve never heard him say anything anymore egotistical than anyone else out there. Give a few examples for the rest of us who maybe don’t know him intimately like you do. 👍

i don’t get it. I watch his YouTube videos, he comes off as very down to earth and friendly.

Exactly my point. I’ve never seen any behaviour or heard him say anything egotistical. It seems that people hear someone else say something negative about someone they have zero knowledge of and it’s easy to just pass that off as their own opinion. I’m still waiting to see a single example of his “ego”.

Just gotta say. With all due respect, thinking you know someone based on their highly produced YT videos is quite naive IMO. The actions and comments done and said without a producer saying “action” are most likely more telling. Who knows, or honestly at the end of the day, really cares that much  🤷🏼‍♂️

Id say pretty much every professional athlete at that level of any sport has a big ego. Kinda have to, it’s not necessarily a negative thing.

I can’t see Bryson moving the needle on sales for any company.

Now if they land Patrick Reed, they will be onto something . . .

My thought is he definitely has a partnership here of some sort.  A new iron company nobody has heard of that has LA Golf graphite shafts and JumboMax grips as their stock offerings?  If what he says is true, that he has countless people DM'ing him on Instagram or stopping him at tournaments saying One Length changed their game for the better, I suspect the company will do okay.  It's never going to eclipse the sales of TM, Callaway, Titleist, and so on, but they may take the market share aware from Cobra's OL sets, and that could be enough for Cobra to feel a bit of heat.
