Back when I wintered in Fl. a PGA buddy, and I used to play PGA National just before it was shutdown for the tournament.

 

This was on 18. Announcers made it seem like the rough wasn't quite so juicy this year. Easy to lose a ball just inches off the fairway.

For the benefit of this thread, I will complain.  Jeebus, this is a weak field.  This is the way it's going, though.  Very little reason to follow non-signature events.  Which stinks.  My local event in Detroit is a non-signature event.

Several players have alluded to a setup similar to the Premier League / Champions league setup in European soccer.  I started following Premier league soccer several years back and was surprised to learn that the top teams play in 3 leagues concurrently!

Just watched Min Woo Lee hit his drive 269 yards on a par 5, and hit his 2nd shot 264 yards to a foot, holed it for an eagle 3..... impressive.

Just, Rose and Tom Kim both miss the green from about 106 yards. The wind is brutal today, you have to flight your wedges down taking spin off. Players are hitting drives 30 yards shorter today than yesterday.

 

Great test of golf today, gonna have to check the scoring averages....

The leaderboard is shaping up nice for a non elevated event.  Nick Dunlap, Tom Kim, Jake Knapp, Rory, Chris Kirk, Pavon, Parker Coody and a couple of other dark horses withing strking distance.  As much as I like a lot of the guys currently playing in Jeddah the PGA Tour is where all the excitement is.  Other then checking in to see how AK is doing I will be watching the Cognizent all weekend.

its pretty easy for the golf to feel more exciting when the general public is allowed to watch the golf at the course ;}

Yeah and also when the REAL REAL competition happens down the stretch on Sunday with something meaningful and life changing on the line with the likes of a Nick Dunlap, Jake Knapp, and Pavon know all too well.

He's doing a pretty nice job in the booth. Kind of fun hearing Knapp tried to take after him until his growth spurt. Donald's iron & short game were great to take after at any size, though. Not so much his driving...

This doesn't apply to pros, but if you're an average golfer, bring a lot of golf balls when you play Florida courses.

 

Water, water everywhere.

 

Florida is essentially an ocean with some dirt sprinkled around here and there, upon which they build strip malls, retirement communities, and golf courses.
