First Eagle!!!!!

Cuja444

Recommended Posts

Just went on my annual Myrtle trip and day 1 I had my first eagle ever. Par 5 hit a good drive and hit my new 4 crossover to about 12 feet and sank the putt. Funny thing was the next hole was a par 3 and I almost had my first hole in one. Went eagle birdy. The next 6 rounds I stunk but who cares.

Congratulations!! That's Awesome!!

Hats Off Bro!!!

That's fantastic :)

Now that you know the feeling, burn the vision of every swing/stroke and shot into your mind's eye and visualize them over and over and let muscle memory take care of the rest~

As has been said above me, let the flood gates open~

Continued success!!

This is one of the reasons golf is such a great game. One good hole can make up for a lot of crappy play. That is what we remember and why we keep going back.

Well done and congrats.

Congrats, awesome feeling.

Speaking of eagles. How does everyone feel about eagles on short holes. I'm not sure if how I feel about my 3 eagles. One was definitely earned, driver hybrid then good putt. The other 2 I don't feel good about counting. Played with old timers and played 1 tee up and they were even playing shorter than usual and I drove the green with a weak drive. The other was on a short course and I had 150 in after a not hammered drive. Made the putt but it didn't feel like an eagle.

Is it an eagle if it didn't feel like you hit 3 great shots?

Just checking in for my first Eagle today, an easy hole but they all count. Going for par 5's in 2 isn't my game, so this hole was always going to be my most likely shot.

An easy hole, a (very) driveable 256 yard par 4, with the main danger being a pond just off to the right. It's a small green with run-offs, so I normally play iron/wedge and take an easy birdie/par chance. Driver has been straight lately though, so that's what I played today and hit it just right to pin high, about 2 foot to the right. Took my time over the putt , and I was glad and relieved to make it :)

Nice tee shot! Getting to 2ft from 250+ yards out is pretty spectacular.

I made an insane eagle the other day. Was the first in a year or so, and interestingly was my first “routine” eagle (par 5 or 4 in 2 or 1, then make putt). I’ve made eagle from the fairway of a par 4, and from pitch-ins on par 5s. I’ve reached a number of par 4s in 1 and 5s in 2, but never made the putts. I had a 4 footer once, but it broke probably 5 feet. I had no expectations of making that putt.

But about two weeks ago I reached a par 5 that I had always considered unreachable for two reasons. First is the sheer length...it’s long. But second is the sheer stupidity of going for this green. It has the smallest of openings and is guarded by water on the left and nasty bunkers on the right, and OB long. But I had been playing so poorly that day up to that point, so after I hit a really long drive for me I realized I only had 265 in to a back pin. And the only club I had any confidence in that day was my 3 wood. So I went for it, hit literally one of the best shots I’ve ever hit in my life to within 20 feet of the pin, then made the breaking 18 footer for eagle.

Even though I had a terrible round otherwise that day, that eagle made up for all of it. I’ll probably never forget it.

Postscript: the next time I played the hole, I hit a decent drive but not the bomb I hit on the eagle. So this time I had 270 to a front pin. I decided to go for it again. Once again, I hit a bomb with my 3w that carried hole high, but was slightly left of my target line, and I landed in the water. Ended up making a 9 because I then hit my pitch shot into the nasty bunkers and took 3 shots to get out of it. I learned my lesson and have decided that I will never go for that green in two again ?
