Hydroflask fan

Recommended Posts

I am a very big fan of my Hydroflask that I use every time I play golf. So much so I just bought another travel one for coffee at the office. These keep water really cold on the course, even keeping ice cubes around for most of the round on the hottest days, and it easily fits in my Clicgear cart too. I even panicked after breaking off the top last weekend and had to go buy a replacement immediately for fear of not having one for my next round. (I mistakenly hit it with a club during a practice swing). They are really easy to clean too. Great product with the only downside being they aren't cheap. Highly recommend.

These things are fantastic. I have the 40oz I take playing golf and just throw in the cart basket, I have a 32oz narrow I don't use a whole bunch just because I don't like the tops available for the narrow, 2 12oz coffee mugs (fit under a Keurig perfectly) and a 20oz coffee when I need an extra pick me up.

I just wish they had better sports lids for the narrow that sealed better where I would use it more. The narrows just don't work quite as well as the wide mouths in my experience.

I've had a Hydroflask for the past couple years and absolutely love it. It has gotten a bit beat up from use, so I went to get a new one a couple months ago.

Surprisingly, I did not come away with a Hydroflask. I ended up buying a ThermoFlask made by Takeya. They are a couple dollars cheaper, give the same hot/cold performance and (in my opinion) the lid design is far superior than that of the Hydroflask.

If anyone likes their Hydroflask, but is a bit annoyed by the lid system (or lack thereof), or size of the mouth opening, check these out. They basically took a Hydroflask, kept all the great stuff, improved the areas that could use it, and lowered the price.

Alright, I'm going to have to pick one of these up. Are the standard mouth pieces okay to work with or is one of the other attachments recommended?

I all depends on which one you go with. I like the wide mouth with the flip top.

The standard is just a screw off top from what I can tell, right? I'd prefer a flip top. Was thinking about doing a 24 or 32 oz to start with.

To clarify I have the 21 oz with narrow top (it's a screw in type so it's pretty easy to use and doesn't leak either) and a 16 oz coffee flask with flip up top for the office. Pretty great products - too expensive though, but you get what you pay for - and they last a very long time. At least until you hit them with a golf club and knock the top off. Great results to date though.

Does the cap screw down onto the spout? I can't really tell from the pictures.

Those look real nice, and I seriously have a problem buying water bottles/coffee cups/tumblers, so I'm like 80% sure almost no matter what your response is I'm getting one of those.

My thoughts on these. My wife and I both have the wide mouth 20oz ones and my kids have the small mouth 21oz ones. I have the both the flip top lid and the straw lid. The straw lid doesn't keep the water cold as long as the flip top does. Not really impressed with that. For the ones my kids have, I put the pop up top on them and they leak like a sieve. It's a hydroflask product but doesn't keep it from leaking. Otherwise, happy with the hydroflask with the flip top.

I have the 24oz. standard mouth and recommend getting the sport top. It helps with insulation and keeping all the cold in. Also is much much easier to pull the spout and drink instead of having to unscrew and rescrew the top every time you want a drink.

I grab a couple bottles of water, throw a few ice cubes in the hydroflask, and just keep refilling it as needed for cold water.

I have had my 40 oz for a year and take it everywhere. I will load it to the top with ice and they will stay frozen for almost a whole day. I dropped mine and the top broke and they sent a new one out right away. They said if the insulation stops working they would cover it. My brother has a similar one from an off brand and he is debating a hydroflask because it hold the temps better.

Yes, the cap screws onto the spout... and it's on a hinge; so when you unscrew it just flips back, instead of detaching from the lid.

EDIT: Found this on a google image search. It does a much better job, than the simple pics on their website, of showing the lid...

Love these. I have 4 myself, 2 wides (1 32 oz, 1 coffee), 1 standard, and 1 pint glass/cup. The sport top on the standard is not bad, but as posted above, it can leak. The wide mouth with flip top or the standard screw top is excellent. The stainless pint is simply awesome for water, beer, even coffee.

I was using the coffee one for a while. Then realized the coffee would never cool off to a drinkable temp before I really needed it.

Now I use it as a cocktail holder for events around town. Keeps it nice and chilled for hours.

I have 2 - 32s for water and, well, more cocktail holders.

If you weren't the owner of one of the coolest putters I've ever seen you would have zero credibility with me.

Just kidding! But you have swayed me on the Takeya. I didn't really like the idea of adding an extra $10 to the price of the hydroflask so I could have the mouthpiece I wanted, and the Takeya seems to fit the bill without any added cost. My only complaint so far is they have a limited color selection.

My wife and I both have a 32 wide moth and a 24 narrow mouth. We both love ours, and use them everyday. The 32 oz gets used by both of us more because we boh drink a lot of water. We both have the straw lids, which we both liked, but I just bought flip lids for them. I like the flip lid better as far as keeping ice, but it does leak a little. Packaging says it's not leakproof on the flip lid. Just bought the sports top for my 24oz bottle, and it works great. We both like them more than Yeti products.

I've gotten every family member on the hydroflask train, as well as some of the wife's coworkers... They can't be beat. I actually lost my first at Half Moon Bay (think the bag drop guys may have taken it out of jealousy when loading bags... i kid...)

I use the thing every single day, and every time on the course. Can't go wrong with the purchase

I have a 21 oz standard mouth and I absolutely love it! I bought this mainly to bring to work everyday. I would recommend something bigger for golf as 21oz, especially if you are putting ice in it, as it is not big enough water on one fill up for the whole round. What I like about is that it fits perfectly in my push cart cup holder and ice stays in it for the whole round and thensome. So I usually just pack another bottle of water in the bag to refill.

Thanks for the info on the Takeya bottle. Amazon sells the stand alone cap for these, and it supposedly will fit the wide mouth hydroflasks (which I have a cabinet full of).

I picked one of them up to try out because I'm less than pleased with the flip/straw lid from hydroflask.

I have two and am really happy with them. When it's really hot I like taking my 40 ounce one (I have the flip,up lid with the straw). That's usually enough to get me through the round. The only drawback to that one is that it's just inconvenient to carry. It's too big to fit in a cup holder so,I usually have to put it in the basket of the cart. Because of that I also bought a 20 ounce one that does fit in the cup holder (also rides well in the beverage pocket of the bag), but it just empties out so quickly. But they sure work well.
