What item(s) do you refuse to buy on the BST?

Simple question, for no other reason other that just curious. What item or items do you refuse to buy on the BST? Used shoes, "lightly" used shirts/shorts/pants, etc.

For me its shoes. Keep your used for "one round" or used lightly shoes, don't want 'em, don't need 'em.

I never really thought about it, but for me it would likely be a gift card. Too much risk.

Used shoes! I wouldn't buy them from play it again sports, so I sure as heck wouldn't buy them online.

gift cards would make me uneasy too, but I'd be more worried about buying clubs from someone who admitted to building the set themselves. they may look good in pics, but not guarantee they aren't going to fall apart.

Nothing really. Everything has a value and if I can get something for a heavily discounted price, it may be worth buying simply for the chance at selling later on for profit.

Would you really turn down a set of Nike Vapor golf shoes that were used 1 round for $20 or something similarly low in price?

I’m normally in agreement on the shoes. But I did actually buy one pair. Lime green Pumas, it was the only pair I’ve seen listed and looked to be basically new.

I won’t buy used clothing though. I figure there are enough deeply discounted new items available in a variety of places that there really isn’t a pressing need for used.

New withOUT tags underwear.... you live and learn that lesson....

The only used shoes I'd buy would be from a "wore them once around the house, didn't fit" kind of description. One round, one range session, one trip to the grocery store -- no dice.

The used clothing ads always crack me up. Saw one recently that said "wore once, I think." Huh? You don't remember?

I would not buy anything from anyone with less than a stellar reputation. Life's too short to waste time dealing with clowns (who may or may not be Oregon fans).

used shoes are posted for sale all the time. obviously there are a few on here that have said the wont buy, but there are plenty I'm sure that would consider it. wouldn't hurt to try.

Gift cards. Heard too many horror stories about people being burned (and in some they had the balance on a receipt).

I was surprised at how many used shoes I was able to sell on eBay. For example, wore some AM90 for a season purchased for $20. Sold them for $35 so that’s basically a free shoe for a season

Haha. Yea - this. Was my first reaction too. Not only merchandise. Not sure I’d but anything either one said.

Gift cards & used shoes or used hats... I did buy a used pullover which felt kind of weird to do but it fit well (although it has a small snag) so now I keep my eyes out for polos. I wouldn't pay for K-Sigs at a premium (I got some from Costco the last time so it didn't matter). I probably wouldn't buy a golf bag either just due to the shipping cost it would cost the person that they would probably push down to me plus returning it would suuuuck.

Lastly- anything where they ask for gift payments.

Surprising to read that there are people here on a golf/ golf equipment forum, populated by equipment junkies, that wouldn't buy something on the BST that was built by an "amateur". I mean, building clubs at a hobby level isn't rocket science - if you can work a tape measure, utility knife, and glue, you posses most of the skills you'll need to build a golf club successfully.

And, I don't buy non-stock stuff on the BST and expect a blueprinted, professional, tour van-level build. I assume that 90% of the non-stock stuff on the BST was done by some dude in his garage. If something failed on a club because of shoddy workmanship, I'd sure as hell hope the seller would "make it right", within a reasonable timeframe. I mean, there's no guarantee that 3 year old stock driver, all work done by the manufacturer, couldn't have a head come loose or something. Screws fall out all the time. The world is an imperfect place.

And especially anything from a new(er) member with little or no feedback, few if any posts and who clearly bought their way into the BST. (I know, I know - everyone has to start somewhere but just not worth the hassles and I don't want or need anything that bad)
