What item(s) do you refuse to buy on the BST?

Surprising to read that there are people here on a golf/ golf equipment forum, populated by equipment junkies, that wouldn't buy something on the BST that was built by an "amateur". I mean, building clubs at a hobby level isn't rocket science - if you can work a tape measure, utility knife, and glue, you posses most of the skills you'll need to build a golf club successfully.

 

And, I don't buy non-stock stuff on the BST and expect a blueprinted, professional, tour van-level build. I assume that 90% of the non-stock stuff on the BST was done by some dude in his garage. If something failed on a club because of shoddy workmanship, I'd sure as hell hope the seller would "make it right", within a reasonable timeframe. I mean, there's no guarantee that 3 year old stock driver, all work done by the manufacturer, couldn't have a head come loose or something. Screws fall out all the time. The world is an imperfect place.

 

I bought a used set of irons that were reshafted by someone who sold them to the party I bought them from. The 8, 9, and PW were about a half inch shorter than they were supposed to be and 3 of the heads came loose. I'm now very hesitant to purchase anything built by someone that isn't a professional.

I didn’t create a fuss over $40 & threw it out.

Just learned my lesson & won’t ever be buying even items described as NWOT, clothing or shoes

I've bought several gifts cards. Not really any more risk than any other item if you pay with PayPal. If the gift card isn't as you expect, you'd just file a claim like you would if you bought a club. I've had zero issues tho. Usually if I'm buying a gift card, I already know what in using it for and I'll spend it right away.
