Which club is your "old reliable" when the round goes south?

We all have those days where you get to the course and it's like you forgot how to play golf. You swear you're thinking the same swing thoughts as the other day on the range when you were striping it. But no, 3-4 holes in you're just trying to salvage your mental game and make it to the turn to buy a beer. Out comes "old reliable" the trusty club that gets you down the stretch and a wedge/putter in your hand.

For my buddy it's his 6 iron, a nice easy cut down the middle to stay out of trouble. For me it's my 21* hybrid, I can play it anywhere from 160-205, easy smooth swings go somewhere even on mishits. How about you guys?

22° Dunlop solution rescue. It’s in the trunk ready to sub in for the 3 iron at a moment’s notice if I sense in warm-up I’m gonna need some help. My go-to long club when everything has failed me; it plays more or less 5 iron distance from rough and 4 iron distance from fairway.

19° hybrid

4 iron for me. Give me my 4 iron, my 56* SW and a putter and I'll get around just fine. When my game goes south it's almost always getting off the tee that is the issue and I've found the 4 iron to be the perfect compromise of getting me in play with enough length that I don't feel overly hampered by where I end up usually.

If things start going poorly I trust my 21º hybrid and PW to get me around

712U 4 iron.

Fairway every single time. It'll only be replaced by another 712U in better condition.....

Removing 20 degree 3 iron and adding 19 degree hybrid has made that 200-215 shot so much more comfortable. I'm amazed how much it's helped my game. Even after a subpar drive on a par 5, I usually still get into a decent scoring position for my third shot. Previously, when I wasn't striking the ball well, I'd struggle with everything from 5 iron down through driver. Now I know the hybrid is there at least.

When things go south for me... it doesn’t matter what club I have, they are all going to be bad. I have to go to a fallback swing and just change my mindset for the rest of the round. Very demoralizing.

I hit as short an iron as possible that allows me to not hit a longer one into the green.

Seriously. I play a short but narrow course, and there have been times when I'm so shook that I will laser the pin from the tee, divide by two, and hit that distance's club twice. We've got one hole that's around 320 yards, I hit my 9-iron about 160-165 on a good day and I've hit 2 of them into the green more times than I'd like to admit.

Five Wood.

3 Wood. I always keep it in play.

I choke wayyyy down on my U45 2 iron and swing smooth.

G410 20* hybrid......

Ryoma F3, 15°...even when I am in full limp mode, I can scrape and gouge it home while still resembling golf (somewhat:-)

At the moment it's my JPX900 4 iron. If I'm not hitting the ball well it's likely I'll be ballooning my 4 wood/hybrid so I'll pull the 4 iron at every opportunity. It's so easy to hit, I can hit big, high cuts 150-165 yards and hit bullet straight balls anywhere up to 190-200ish yards. Very reliable and takes some pressure off knowing it can cover a multitude of sins on a bad day.

2 iron off the tee whenever I get a a chance.

Cobra F7 3-4 Wood

The next one I buy.

sometimes this is the only one that works.

It was my G25 22* hybrid. But the head flew off at the range. I retired it and bought a G400 and don't have the same love with it.

Grip it and rip it. Take the driver and go all out; I can screw up just as well playing safe as I can playing dumb. Get a loose swing in and see what happens after that.

no doubt,if your game has truly went off the rails how the hell do you suddenly only remember how to it hit one club?

Give me my 5 Wood and my wedges and we’ll get through it
