Are my Wilson Staff Elite 50 golf balls more elite now?

I really like my PI7 irons. No jacked up lofts. My PW is a civilized 48 degrees.

Woodlands irons look amazing. Love the old school bore thru.

Wilson should get more love, they have been making quality equipment for many years and they don't push the 4 yards longer marketing crap that TM etc do.

Amen. It was a great win for Wilson. Wilson has always made good stuff but they dont get the respect they deserve because they dont marketing like Callaway, Taylormade and Titleist do. Im loving my W/S 8802 putter and Duo Soft balls. Im probably going to pick up a set of D7 irons this fall too.

Ive actually got an old set of Wilson Tour blade irons from the '80s that I picked up at a garage sales that are soooo pretty but I dont have the swing to use them on a consistent basis. They are fun to mess around at the range though.

Goes to show you all the top manufacturers are producing good equipment capable of winning the most elite tournaments in professional golf. It's a good win for Wilson and hopefully they use it as an opportunity to market to the US public.

Wouldn't get too excited about Wilson equipment Woodland used a Ping 410 driver and three wood Vokey and TM wedges a Scotty putter and a Titleist ball.

It was an awesome win. Especially the emphatic finish with the birdie. Yeah, he does't play ALL Wilson - but it can't hurt having that Wilson hat in so many shots on Sunday.

And he has incentives to use the cortex and their ball but they aren’t workin for him.

Wilson CEO was there to congratulate him on 18, looking desperate. When's the last time we saw any golf club mfg brass out on the course to congratulate a player in a tournament? "Thank you for saving my job, Gary!"

Wilson has made great equipment in the past, and the new irons look amazing,

Will be looking at their equipment when I need an upgrade.

Because it works better for him than the TM - Callaway - Titleist etc. drivers.

Hey come on! Manku probably has a triple XXX shaft in the Triton with 6.5 deg. of loft. Launch angle of 12 and only 900 RPM.

Yes, the blade before the set he is using was the Staff FG62, indicating the number of wins..........

Strictly speaking, the FG100 blade came out after the FG62.

I'm not sure that the 62s were named to mark the number of Wilson major wins. The press release Wilson put out states: "For nearly a century, Wilson Golf has designed, manufactured and distributed premium and recreational golf equipment throughout the world. Since 1914, Wilson Staff irons have won 61 Major championships, more than any other iron manufacturer in history." (from another golfing website that I don't think I can hotlink to).

May be they were called FG62 in the hope they would bring them a 62nd major victory?? Bit odd, really.

Wilson has always made some great equipment and lots of major champions have played their irons. Back in the 70's I went back and forth between my Hogan Apex's and my Wilsons. The golf equipment market is a fickle environment and it would take a lot to get my p790's and my Ping G400 woods out of my bag but I'll definitely try hitting them again when I get the chance.

Wilson made topnotch golf equipment (e.g. Staff irons) many decades ago. You rarely see any golf clubs' pro shop invest in anything with the Wilson name on it anymore because it just won't sell. You can't blame them. To regain anything close to what Wilson once was in golf equipment I think Wilson will have to spend a whole lot of money to get PGA tour pros to play their clubs and spend even more money on marketing. They'll also have to convince some topnotch R&D talent from their competition to come aboard and become a leader in new technology and design. It would be extremely costly with foresight of breaking-even a long shot.

^Have you seen their two seasons of Driver vs. Driver on the Golf Channel? Wilson has spent a ton on R&D and marketing their clubs, and still not a big seller or desirable brand by the golfing majority.
