Taylormade fairways. M1 thru Sim...Your favorite and why.

Title says at all......Lets have a discussion about which one you prefer and why.

For me it is the SIM regular version. It is long and forgiving and I like the sole better than the M versions.

M2 16.5* (2016) version. Sat perfectly, long and reasonably forgiving.

I have a 2017 m1 HL that is pretty good. Lower the loft and it sits perfectly square

17 m2. Bought one used because of the shaft. Intended to sell it until I hit it. Was playing 16 m1. 17 m2 flew higher, straighter, farther. Went in the bag. Have a backup at home. Will probably buy another one at some point.

2017 M2 tour

M3. More compact than its successors (and no funky looking twist face). Has the perfect sound. Can easily add a second sliding weight to compensate for swing weight on shorter builds.

I don’t really care if M5 or SIM are 3 yards longer. That is meaningless for a fairway wood. M3’s are staying in my bag for the foreseeable future.

Rocketballz. It is hard to take yourself too seriously when you pipe your approach on a par 5 with a club that sounds like a middleschooler won a bet against his Dad in marketing so he had to pitch that name to a boardroom. I still get a laugh thinking about the commercial during its release. I have the tour 3 and 5 in the shed waiting for some whiteboards to come my way so that they can get back in the bag.

M1/M3/M5 are all very good identical performers for me from a playability standpoint.

I agree with you. Same thing I have with but with a VTS 8 silver .Very stable setup.

Thanks for replies.......I am unloading a sim driver and an m5 driver in favor of a 2016 M2 driver and am wondering if i should do the same with 3 wood.

wobgon, what's your reason for going for a 2016 M2 versus the new ones? I recently picked up a 2016 M2 9.5*. I heard so many good things about it, and one kind of fell in my lap. Then I did the simple math of what it cost me ($180) compared to the price of a SIM or M5, and it was a no-brainer. It's obvious that the money-to-value isn't a factor in your case.

I am always looking to save money like everyone else......In this case, I prefer the m2. I like the ball flight and it does everything the newer ones do, at least in my case.

Any votes for the m6?

New SIM finally looks better, similar to the old V-Steel which I loved. The M versions all sat too upright in my opinion, especially in a 5 wood. The only way I was able to get away from that were tour heads that were setup flatter. But I will say I still have the original M2 in a tour head 3 wood that' in my bag and that club is going nowhere anytime soon.

Which one? Edwin Watts near me has 17 m2 3wood for $179 bnip.

Off the tee that 3wood was deep. It would not elevate off the deck.

It is deep- I usually use the 3 wood for tee shots and the RBZ 5 wood for the turf-

another absolutely great 3 wood was the Burner TP (Black Head)

Can't say I've played many others, but the '16 M1 3HL (17*) Fairway has been a pleasant surprise for me.

Cranked open at 15* it sits nice and square, not too upright and the paint scheme frames the ball as well as any other wood I've played.

Would love to do a direct-in-hand comparison of all these models. I lean towards flatter lie angles and sitting square.

Agree with this in that the M3 is such a beautiful and compact fairway head at address and sounds super-solid and thwacky.

I changed from an M3 to an M5 about three months ago, primarily because the M5 launches SIGNIFICANTLY higher than the M3, which suits my delivery better.

That means I don't have to increase loft, and therefore increase spin, to get the launch I want with the spin I want.

The M5 doesn't sound as good as the M3. The M5 also sits VERY closed to my eye. I'm lucky that I like to play TM fairways one click open.

Anecdotally, I find the M5 to be much straighter off-centre, particularly out of the toe.

Loved the M3, but find the M5 fits me that little bit better.

for me the original M2. I’ve played the M3, M5 and Sim max, and the original M2 is still my fav. The size, feel, ball flight, distance, to me it’s been my best TM offering.

16m2 , tour deep face. Best I've played, feel is better than the moveable weight heads and the ball speed is as high as anything made. My biggest issue is finding another one if this one cracks.

17 m1 hL is pretty close, I have it as a back up but feels much more hollow and clicky.

SIM is by far the best fairway they've made if you want a lower spinning model. My Sim Ti 5w is literally as long as my old 15* M1 3w. It's a dream off the tee... Off the fairway you won't be holding greens but the times I need a 260 yard shot off the fairway is probably close to 0. It's my less than driver tee club and is very forgiving. Barely hit the club face last week and still got it out there about 220, uphill. Solid strikes usually net me 260-280.

me!!! My m6 had been the best ever. Off the ground, of the tee... just excellent. No reason to look at sim fairway for me.

Love my M4 fairway wood. I never could hit the M1. I have more control with my M4 3W then my M6 driver.

Is your M4 a 3HL? I just bought a SiM Max 3w but I’m way more consistent with the M4 3HL. Going to keep working with the new club because it’s so much longer when I do connect but if it’s costing me strokes, it’s outta the bag.

I've got my eyes on a 16 M2 3W. I don't really need one, but it has a AD DI 8X at 43 inches and they both look to be in nice shape. Honestly thinking an 18 turned down to a 17 is the play. So the ho train chugs on. I haven't had a TM since the original v-steel. It only moved out for a Titty 915 Fd 13.5 turned up to 15. I hit it a mile, but I only need like 3/4. The 3W position (now that I start thinking of it) is actually the least reward for cash spent of any club I own. And yet, here I am.
